After seeing PEA on a natural dog facebook page I emailed Vince to see if I could give this to my elderly rabbit Ben who has arthritis in his spine. I quickly had a reply with the dosage. Ben has 1/6th of a capsule daily sprinkled onto his fresh food which he eats no problem. His movement is much better as he is able to keep himself clean, hop around the garden and enjoy sleeping under the garden bench. I have also just started giving this to my dog that has seizures along with MCT oil as Vince said both of these could help him. The dog is currently having 2 capsules a day and will work up to the 3-4 that he should be having. He also has it sprinkled into his food and eats it no problem - whereas he did spot the capsule and ate all the meat around it leaving that. I am hoping it will really help him and that we can reduce his Seizure meds in time.

Our dog has always been a ‘jumper’ – on and off the settee, in and out of the car, on and off our canal boat so it was pretty much a surety that he’d develop arthritis one day. At the age of 11, he developed a limp in a front leg and Vince recommended a PRP (regenerative medicine) injection (rather than just mask the pain of it with Librela). The specialist vet was very positive about Murphy’s condition saying that she’s seen worse arthritis in a four year-old dog. We put that wholly down to the Vince the Vet Joints product that Murphy has been on for some years together with PEA, also one of Vince’s miracle products. As a result, Murphy responded wonderfully to the PRP whilst being supported with Vince’s products, and, after a period of recovery, he’s now back to his usual self - although we have stopped the episodes of jumping!!!

Q: What is the dosage of the new pea
    A:

Hi Rebecca, for cats it's half a capsule daily. For dogs up to 10kg it's half twice daily, for dogs up to 25kg it's one twice daily and for dogs 26kg and upwards it's 2 capsules twice daily. For horses it's 3 twice daily.

Q: Hi Alison Wanstall has been helping me & she emailed you regarding my 3 year old Westie with ongoing seasonal itchy skin problems. Your advice was that you thought he’d benefit from your new PEA supplement. I watched your zoom meeting this morning and am ready to order some. I’d like to know what is the dosage & how many tubs do I need for the initial 12 week period? Assuming this supplement works, would I need to keep him on this supplement all year round? Thank you for your help Julie Houston
    A:

Hi Julie, for the average Westie of around 10kg the dose would be half a capsule twice daily and so one bottle would last 90 days / 3 months. Do let us know how you get on.

    Jude
Q: What is the dosage for dogs please? My bc’s are 15 and 18 kg
    A:

    Dogs:

Small (5kg - 10kg): half a capsule twice daily (this can easily be opened and the powder mixed into a little tasty food).

Medium (11kg - 25kg): one capsule twice daily.

    Large (26kg - 35kg plus): 2 capsules twice daily.

One capsule twice daily for both.  ????

    Emma Taylor
Q: How many pea tablets would my 35kg dog need a day pls
    A:

Hi Emma, it would be 2 capsules twice daily initially. After 12 weeks it may be possible to reduce to one capsule twice daily for maintenance.

    Sharon Hodgkiss
Q: I have a 11 year old Staffordshire bull terrier, at the moment he his on apoloquel for itchy skin, and liberal injection for arthritis, would this be beneficial for him, as I keep looking for alternatives more natural.
    A:

Hi Sharon, PEA has proved to be effective at reducing itching in 2 out or 3 dogs with Atopy (a sensitivity to environmental allergens). It has also been shown to be very effective at relieving joint discomfort. Give the PEA for 12 weeks and then follow the guidance here and here.

Hi, yes it can help cats with itching caused by allergic reactions to allergens inside and outside the home.

    EMMA MEDLAM
Q: My dog was on Apoquel to manage his allergies - for over 2 years!! He had infection after infection and the breaths across his whole body were ridiculous. He’s been off it nearly 4 months. I have improved his gut health and have switched him to a raw diet consisting of only 2 proteins. He is much much better, the break outs are mainly on his feet and the lower parts of his back legs. He’s not massively itchy, unless you give him a scratch! He does lick…but that tends to be after I’ve soaked his feet/legs in Epsom salts/bicarb. Would PEA be of benefit to him and help with the breakouts he’s still having (even though they are now less and not so severe), or shall I stick with what I’m doing and just wait it out a bit longer?
    A:

PEA has been shown to significantly reduce itching in 2 out of 3 dogs with a sensitivity to environmental allergens. On this basis alone it is worth trialling for 12 weeks to see what impact it has on your dog's skin problems. Do let us know how you get on.

    Michelle
Q: Hello, could you tell me what source the PEA is derived from, as I have read that some come from (palm oil, safflower, sunflower, soy etc...) Also are there any "Other Ingredients" listed past the main like (silica,Microcrystalline cellulose Magnesium Sterate etc...) Lastly is this Ultra micronized PEA? Thank you for your help!
    A:

The PEA is extracted from sustainably sourced palm oil. It is micronised for optimum bioavailability. The powder is 100% pure palmitoylethanolamide with no other ingredients / additives of any kind. The capsule (which doesn't have to be given if the powder is tipped out (the two ends easily slide apart) is vegetarian. All this information can be viewed by scrolling down the product page and clicking on the + next to INGREDIENTS to expand the composition panel.

There is no reason why this can't be used for a pet on a low purine diet.

    Carol
Q: I found this in Canada for humans could I give to my dog it is 400mg if so how much would I give to a 20lb dog?
    A:

Hi Carol, we can't comment on another product unfortunately because we have no way of knowing how it is produced, from what, what the certificate of analysis results are (which measures levels of heavy metals and potentially pathogenic microbes are etc.

Q: Reo my Frenchie dog 8 months is on an elimination raw diet he also gets pre and probiotics and Piriton he’s doing better now but still gets itchy eyes one of his teats and runny eyes and nose would this help him and can he take it everything I’m doing
    A:
PEA has been shown to significantly reduce itching and inflammation in 2 out of 3 dogs who are sensitive to environmental allergens.

If you vet has diagnosed an allergic reaction as the reason for the eye and nose signs, it is worth trialling for 12 weeks on this basis.

Do let us know how you get on.
    Nicola Pilling
Q: Can this be given (in food) the same time as Onsior?
    A:

    Hi Nicola, yes it can.

    Katey Bowness
Q: Hello Is this suitable for dogs with sensitive tummies, and for those who are on a different joint supplement to use alongside
    A:

Hi Katey, as a general rule, we advise giving half the dose to dogs with sensitive stomachs just to be on the safe side. And yes it can be given alongside additional joint supplements. Foe the best possible combination we advise Ultimate Joint Support for the reasons explained here.

    Victoria
Q: Hi, I have recently started my dog on this PEA supplement for her joints. In the last couple of days we have found out she has a heart murmur and a cardiologist has diagnosed Mitral Valve Disease. The cardiologist has put her on Vetmedin. Can I still give her thissupplement?
    A:

Hi Victoria, yes PEA is safe to use alongside any medications prescribed by your vet.

    Penny Borgen

Hi Penny, yes this supplement is fine for people too, as we only use the highest quality human food grade micronised palmitoylethanolamide available. The dose for people is two capsules twice daily for 12 weeks and then one twice daily for maintenance. Do let us know how you get on.

Q: Hi I am interested in trying the PEA supplement for my 5 year old French bulldog, she has suffered for years with allergies both food and environmental. She has been on apoquel most of her life and has tried cytopoint injections but we had to stop them as she was allergic to the injection and had bad reactions. Although she takes apoquel tablets she still constantly licks her paws and gets itchy ears. Would the PEA supplement help her and could we use it instead of the apoquel?? Thank you
    A:

Hi Kate, we're sorry to hear of your poor girl's problems, which sadly affect many Frenchies. Given that PEA has been shown to significantly reduce itching in 2 out of 3 dogs reacting to environmental allergens, PEA is certainly worth trying. You may find that itching persists if she continues to be exposed to food allergens, but that it becomes less intense and require a lower dose of medication if the reaction to allergens inside and outside the home is reduced. If you let us know how things are going in 12 week's we can advise further. Also read through the guidance here and here.

    Louise Patterson
Q: Hi there So, just to clarify - humans can take your PEA capsules? Regards
    A:

Yes, we use the highest quality micronised palmitoylethanolamide available. The dose for humans is 2 capsules twice daily for 12 weeks, and then reduced to one twice daily for maintenance.

Q: Can PEA be given with Pardale v that my vet prescribed
    A:

    Hi Susa, yes it can.

    Corinne Davies
Q: I’m confused, is Pea for both dogs and humans? I have a dog with arthritis who is on librela, paracetamol and I’m using your joint Vince the vet supplement. His beard (large miniature schnauzer) is brown from licking his joints. Would he benefit from adding pea to his regime? I too have osteoarthritis, can I take pea too?
    A:

PEA is beneficial for humans, dogs, cats and other animals. Adding PEA and the Joint Support plus Recuperation remedy to your dog's joint support regime is likely to help a great deal for the reasons described here. The dose for people is 2 capsules twice daily for 12 weeks and then reduce to one twice daily for maintenance. A lady has just posted this on our Facebook page:

"I have had exercise related pain ( 40+ years of netball) in hips and knees that had become significantly worse in the last year. I was seriously considering retiring this year as the pain was so bad. I was unable to get up from sitting unaided and couldn't run upstairs as I have always done. After a week on PEA ( I have been taking VTV Joints for a few months) I had much reduced pain and increased mobility. After another week I am now practically pain free and running upstairs and able to get up from sitting unaided. Absolutely delighted After feeling my sporting days were over!"

Q: If using the PEA, will I still need a muti vitamin and a glucosamine chondroiten? I use your vitality and immunity. I ran out of the immunity and of course my westie has something on his skin. The groomer said yeast, not 100% sure.
    A:

PEA is a natural anti-inflammatory and analgesic and supplementation significantly reduces discomfort and inflammation in joints. The best Joint supplement to use alongside PEA for maximum joint care and mobility is Joints which is far superior to glucosamine and chondroitin for the reasons explained here.

    Lorraine
Q: I have a 3 year old French bulldog who is itchy, licking, gets ear infections constantly. She has been on steroids and apoquel for nearly 18 months now, if I got this for her could I stop the other medication?? I want to stop the medication altogether without her suffering. Would I also still use the pre/probiotic she currently has? Any help is greatly appreciated
    A:

Hi Lorraine, guidance on how to best use PEA when already giving medication can be found by clicking on this link.

And yes you can continue with the pre and probiotic you are using (if you would like advice on an alternative at any stage,  do drop us s line at info@vincethevet.co.uk).

Q: Can I open capsules and empty into food? What is dosage for West Highland White terrier 16 pounds?

Q: Do you sell this in the USA? If not, how do I order and what would shipping be? I live in Texas. I have an 18 Lb. Westie that has seasonal itches, and I don't to put her on Apoquel. Thanks for your help, Pam
    A:
    Yes, we ship globally.

USA can be selected from the drop down list of destinations at checkout. ????7 - 10 working day International shipping is £18. The dose for a Westie would be half a capsule twice daily for 12 weeks, then reduced to half daily for maintenance if there has been a good response/

Q: Can PEA be taken along guide galliprant or is best given alone? Thanks
    A:

Yes PEA can be given alongside any medications prescribed by your vet.

    Holly Ryder
Q: Hello I’m hoping you can help. Is there any information I can read on how many capsules I need for my dog please? Thanks
    A:

Hi Holly, if you scroll down the product page until DIRECTIONS appears on the left hand side and click on the + next to this, it will expand the panel to display the dosing instructions.

    Jill Pedley
Q: Is this suitable for a dog with renal dysplasia? She suffers terribly with allergies. Thanks
    A:

Yes, PEA is safe to use when renal issues are present.

    Catherine
Q: Hi I have been giving my cat Pea for 11 days now. On the bottle it says cats one quarter of a pill a day but on one of the questions above it says half a day. Could you tell me which it is please? Many thanks!
    A:

It depends on weight. The average cat weighs around 3kg and a quarter of a capsule would be sufficient for such a pet. For larger cats weighing around 5kg or more, half a capsules would be better.

    Rob
Q: Hi. Our Welsh Terrier (4 yrs) licks paws and is itchy. He has always been on a raw diet. Ears get infected and can get smelly. Tried elimination diet. He is on cytopoint for itching and twice a week steroid for ears (no probs since been on that). We’re told the smell is yeast and I guess this ties in with some of the other issues. We feed a pre and probitic chew (Bella and Duke) to try and help with the yeast. Could PEA deal with all of this potentially? Or any other suggestions?
    A:
PEA often helps when yeast infections are secondary to inflammation of the skin caused by a reaction to environmental allergen given PEA has been shown to significantly reduce itching and skin irritation in 2 out of 3 atopic dogs. NOTE: it can take up to 12 weeks for PEA to reach peak effect. Please read this article before purchasing.
    Kim Gleed
Q: I have a 2.5kg chihuahua with chronic joint issues, what dosage would I give her?
    A:

A quarter of a capsule daily. The ends easily slide apart so the powder can be mixed in food.

    Marilyn Roberts
Q: Before buying Pea what natural home remedy would you suggest to rule out fungal infection. It is just my boy's feet nowhere else. Thankyou.
    A:

Hi, have replied to this on Facebook. To confirm if a fungal or yeast infection is present, it is best if a vet swabs an affected area, smears the sample obtained on a slide, stains it and examines this under a microscope. It is important to be aware that yeast infections are often secondary to another cause, which needs to be identified and successfully addressed to provide a long term cure. More information can be found here - https://www.vincethevet.co.uk/.../yeasty-skin-tried-all...

Q: Can you give this alongside Apoquel
    A:

Yes, you can. Click on this link for guidance on how to best use PEA when already giving medication.

    Suzie
Q: Hi, my girl is currently on 7.5mg prednisolone daily for itching, recurrent ear infections. She has been on the steroids for a few years and this successfully manages her allergies which are thought to be environmental. Can this be used in conjunction with the hope of eventually weaning her off the steroids. She is almost 13 and may start to require pain meds for mobility although she is doing well for her age and remains active managing 1hr of walks daily (split up) Thankyou
    A:

Hi Suzie, yes PEA can be given alongside steroids. Guidance on how to best do this with a view to reducing medication can be found by clicking on this link.  With regards to mobility Ultimate Joint Support provides the best possible joint comfort and care in circumstances like this, for the reasons explained here.

    Ruth
Q: My dog is having Rheumocam at the moment to help, he has some arthritis in his back legs still going walks eating fine. Having read all your pain problems not showing any of those. Will PEA be able to be given to him along with his current medication he is 13 years old a border collie.
    A:

Yes, PEA can be given alongside any medication prescribed by your vet. An even better option would be to give Ultimate Joint Support which provides the best possible joint comfort and care in circumstances like this, for the reasons explained here.

    Jennifer Whyte
Q: My Border Collie was given Apoquel in August as she was scratching her chest belly it did stop for awhile but started again. I have bought shampoo and balm but she won't let me apply any. Also give her Salmon oil and Nutripaw ant allergy treats but still scratching although maybe not as much. We did think it might be seasonal as we have a park with long grass beside us which she walks in. Would pea help prevent itching as not really wanting to give her Apoquel again or steroids.
    A:

Yes, if your vet has diagnosed a sensitivity to environmental allergens as the cause of itching (see 'How is Atopy Diagnosed?by clicking on this link) it is worth trialling PEA for 12 weeks, given it has been shown to significantly reduce itching and skin irritation in 2 out of 3 atopic dogs. You can purchase this here. It is also worth reading this before purchasing: ITCHING MADE SIMPLE and also watching this short video about yeast fuelling foods. Do let us know how you get on.

Q: "My dog is 12 years old and has heart disease (MMVD), which has progressed to stage C. Six months ago, a gingival tumor appeared in her mouth, and we had it surgically removed last week. Our goal is to prevent or slow down the recurrence of the tumor as much as possible. Can she take this product? Will it be effective? She is also on diuretics (furosemide) and pimobendan. Is there any conflict with these medications?"
    A:

Supplementation to support quality of life for as long as possible in circumstances like this, can be found by clicking on this link.  These supplements can be added to a commercial pet food diet if home-cooking is not practical for any reason. As heart disease is also present - this remedy will also be beneficial.

    Julie Windrow
Q: Hi. My sister is on numerous medications due to a heart attack last year. She also has spondylitis in her lower spine & is struggling as she's reluctant to take anti inflammatories. Would she benefit from PEA
    A:

Hi Julie, it's certainly worth trialling, given that in a clinical study involving 610 people who were unable to control chronic pain with standard therapies, all who completed the trial experienced a significant reduction on pain intensity after 7 weeks. We suggest taking 2 capsules twice daily to begin with and then, if there is a good response, reducing to one capsule twice daily for maintenance, to see if this is sufficient for continued relief.

    Pam Willis
Q: Is this suitable for a dog on a low fat diet
    A:

Given at the suggested dose, this is usually the case, but it can depend on the reason for the low fat diet.

    Chrissy
Q: Do I continue giving my dog the same dose of PEA long term or reduce the dose after an initial period?
    A:

After the initial 12 weeks, the dose can be reduced to half the previous amount to see if this is sufficient for maintenance.

    linda lissamore
Q: Can humans take this for joint pain?
    A:

Absolutely! We use only the finest quality, human food grade palmitoylethanolamide in our PEA. And in one trial involving 610 people suffering from chronic pain which couldn't be managed by conventional means, all experienced a significant reduction in pain intensity following 7 weeks supplementation with PEA. You may also find the following feedback of interest - click here.  The dose is 2 capsules twice daily for 12 weeks, and then, if there has been a good response, it can be reduced to one twice daily to see if this is sufficient for maintenance.

Q: Needing for a horse So any idea where can get a suitable product as capsules probably won't work But need effectiveness still
    A:

The capsules easily come apart so that the powered can be mixed into any food. And we've not had any horse guardians reporting our PEA was not accepted.

Q: My xl bully had seasonal skin allergies but at the moment doesn’t seem to be clearing up as quick as before just wondering which help you would recommend with thanks tracey
    A:

The best supplement in these circumstances is PEA as it has been shown to significantly reduce itching in 2 out of 3 dogs sensitive to environmental allergens.

Q: Where can I find the daily dosage for my 28kg bulldog? Sorry lots of info on here and I’m struggling to find the specifics around dosage for dogs! Thanks
    A:

Hi Sophie, it's 2 capsules twice daily for 12 weeks, and then, if there has been a good response reduce to one capsule twice daily to see if this is sufficient for maintenance. If you scroll down the page until you see DIRECTIONS on the left hand side, you will find the instructions there.

    Melanie
Q: I have read the guidance on introducing PEA to dogs currently on apoquel and note that it states consulting with our vet and working with them to reduce the apoquel intake over time etc. Unfortunately our vet is against anything natural and it’s making it difficult to take the leap and gradually (hopefully) switch to PEA, as we are “going it alone”. In our area, vets are scarce and so changing our practice isn’t really an option we have. Is there any advice for those of us who don’t have vets that are so willing to help us introduce natural alternatives?! I am worried about side effects of reducing and eventually stopping apoquel if I don’t have that professional help but I am desperate to they my dog off apoquel and onto all natural like the rest of her diet/supplements. I’m feeling a bit stuck!
    A:

Hi Melanie, completely understand, you're not the only pet parent who finds themselves in this position unfortunately. The first step is to giver PEA for 12 weeks and then email info@vincethevet.co.uk with details of your dog's weight, diet and medication at that point so we can advise further.

Q: Hi,i have dog with lupus and lymphoma,is this product good for him?Thank you
    A:

PEA has natural anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties and for these reasons may be of benefit for your dog. In addition to this, guidance on supporting a dog with cancer naturally can be found here.

    Gaynor Goodwin
Q: Would it work for a dachshund with alopecia? That`s what she takes Apoquel for.

Q: What is the dosage per dog please? We have 3 dogs that we want to try on it for itchiness/allergies, and potentially several more dogs for pain relief (arthritic joints) and another who has age-related cognitive issues. So we're wondering how many we need to order. Do you do any bulk discount?
    A:

The dosages can be found by scrolling down the PEA product page until 'DIRECTIONS' appears on the left hand side. Clicking on the + to the right of the heading will open up the dosing instructions panel. Dual and triple packs of PEA are available which discounts the price.

In fact, in animal models of epilepsy and acute seizures, supplementation with PEA has been shown to reduce severity and frequency of attacks - click here. It's possible therefore that after giving PEA for 12 weeks your vet may be able to reduce the dose of anti-convulsant medication required for maintenance.

Q: Hi, The PEA you use in your product, is it Opti-PEA from The Netherlands? Many thanks
    A:

No, it is 100% pure, human food grade, micronised palmitoylethanolamide produce specifically for us according to our specifications to ensure maximum health benefits not only for animals, but people too.

Q: My frenchi weighs 15kg would I need 1 or 2 Tubs for the 3 months please
    A:

Hi, the dose would be one capsule twice daily for 12 weeks = 168 capsules. You would therefore need 2 a bottles of PEA. Click here to buy the dual pack for a saving of £4.

    Karen Campbell
Q: Hi My almost 10 year old westie Bonnie is 9kg. This last 3 months she has shown signs of itchy skin and licking a lot. I've had her on PEA for about 6 weeks , 1/2 in the morning 1/2 with dinner. Should I Increase to 1 capsule, twice a day? Thank you Kind regards Karen
    A:

If the itching hasn't reduced yet, you can try increasing the PEA to one capsule twice daily. If the stools become too soft, reduce the dose back down again. Do let us know how things are going in another 6 weeks. Also take a look at this blog (click on link in blue).

    Val
Q: My dog Bella doesn’t suffer from joint issues but she does have itchy skin, keeps shaking her head, biting her paws and scooting. Do you suggest I purchase this PEA product to relieve/cure these issues. My vet has prescribed Apoquel/Cytapoint and steroids in the past which haven’t solved the problem
    A:

Hi, if your vet has diagnosed a sensitivity to environmental allergens as the cause of itching (see 'How is Atopy Diagnosed?by clicking on this link) it is worth trialling PEA for 12 weeks, given it has been shown to significantly reduce itching and skin irritation in 2 out of 3 atopic dogs. You can purchase this here. It is also worth giving Insect plus Itch Relief to ease skin irritation while waiting for PEA to reach peak effect as this cab 8 - 12 weeks for some dogs. If you let us know how you're getting on in 2 - 3 months we can advise further.

    Chris Southgate
Q: Please can you tell me the dosage for using this product please?
    A:

The dosage depends on weight. What does you dog weigh?

    Nicola Chadwick
Q: Hi. I have one dog with arthritis and has librella injections. My other dog has cytopoint injections. Would I use PEA for both of them ? Thanks
    A:

Hi Nicola, the best option would be the Ultimate Joint Support bundle. For the dog on Librela this provides the best possible joint comfort and care which has helped many dogs come off this drug. For the dog with a sensitivity to environmental allergens (who is on Cytopoint)  giving PEA has been shown to significantly reduce itching in 2 out of 3 atopic dogs (please note it is is important to give PEA for at least 12 weeks before gauging its effect as it can take this long for some dogs).

Q: I only feed my dog once per day, she is 28kg. How can I administer the correct dose?
    A:

Hi, give one dose in a teaspoon of fresh food and the other in the main meal. It's bests to space the doses apart to help maintain a steady level of PEA in the body, as this tends to be more effective.

    Nikki Kelso
Q: My 8 month old, 24kg GSP is very itchy with hair loss around his eyes and muzzle. He's on Purina HA and nothing else and still itching with short low dose steroid treatment to manage flare ups. Due to his age, this is all we can do. Can we try PEA at his age?
    A:

Hi, yes you can. Give one capsule twice daily and if you let us know how things are going in 12 weeks we can advise further. It's also often beneficial to give Insect plus Itch Relief (2 - 3 drops 3 times daily on a teaspoon of fresh food) to help ease skin irritation while waiting for PEA to reach peak effect (which can be 12 weeks for some dogs).

    Mrs jackie bailey
Q: Can i give pea along side other natural supplements
    A:

    Hi Jackie, yes you can.

    Lucy Evans
Q: Hi, would you ever consider doing a subscriptions service for this? I often forget to to order in time, so run out, and as it seems my boy will likely be on this forever, it would be great to just have it a slightly reduced cost and have it turn up before it runs out. Many thanks, Lucy
    A:

Hi Lucy, thank you for your message. You can set up a subscription service via our Amazon Store - click here.

    Christine E Hauber
Q: Is the PEA dose given by weight or just the same dose for all dogs?
    A:

It depends on weight. If you scroll down the product page until you see the heading 'DIRECTIONS' on the left hand side and click on the + to the right, this will expand the dosage panel.

    Denise Browne
Q: I'm already using PEA for my dog with allergies, started giving it to my old Lhasa about 3/4 months ago for arthritis, he's recently started with dementia and also has back pain - I'm currently giving him half a capsule twice daily - is this the maximum dose I can give him or could it benefit him to increase the dosage? Thanks
    A:

Hi Denise, you can safely double the dose. If the stools become too soft, reduce the amount slightly until they firm up again Do let us know how you get on.

    Lynda
Q: Is this suitable for a diabetic dog with a history of pancreatitis?
    A:

    Yes it is,

    Maureen
Q: Leo has had pancreatitis in the past so needs low fat would this be suitable. If not could you recommend anything else for his joints and itching. Thank you.
    A:

Ultimate Joint Support is the best option in these circumstances for the reasons explained here. Although PEA is a fatty acid amine it is not known to adversely affect pancreatic function.

    Michelle Deluce
Q: Does this supplement often cause upset stomach in dogs? Thank you in advance
    A:

Only very rarely, and usually only in dogs who have had a previous history of digestive upsets.

    Mel
Q: Hi there. My dog is currently on apoquel however after speaking with the vet and advising I don’t want this to be any more long term than it has been (1yr+), they had advised we can simply stop giving our dog their daily dosage effective immediately with the option of a further consultation to reintroduce it if necessary. So, as of Tuesday, our pup no longer takes the medication. This of course means we are going it alone and expect the allergies will flare soon as apoquel appeared to be the only thing keeping them at bay. We have also never received clarity on what the allergies could be, so we have put her on a limited diet just in case it is food related rather than environmental. Is it safe to put her on PEA right now? I know it says to work with our vet to transfer from apoquel to PEA slowly, but we unfortunately received no such help from our vet and the only advice given was to stop giving the apoquel whenever we wanted to if we didn’t like it, and do whatever we wanted…. Thanks, Mel.
    A:

Hi Mel, you can start PEA straight away if your vet has diagnosed a sensitivity to environmental allergens as the cause of your dogs skin issues. (It's also beneficial to give  2 - 3 drops of Insect plus Itch Relief 3 times daily on a teaspoon of fresh food - not kibble) to help ease skin irritation while waiting for PEA to reach full effect, which can take up to 12 weeks for some dogs). It's never a good idea to stop medication abruptly for the reasons outlined here - which is why we advise giving PEA for at least 12 weeks before any drugs being given are adjusted.

Q: Hi Vince, we rescued Snowy last May ( Westie age 5). He was in a terrible state but Westie Advice Group got him well in foster care, then he came to us. He was put straight on PEA for his skin. We are giving him half a capsule on breakfast and half on dinner but after each meal he is air licking or licking carpet. Is this indigestion or something else? He also on a probiotic and VTV immunity. Just don't want him to suffer, he's been through enough. I serve his meals on slow feeder and he's entirely raw fed. Best wishes Keren xx
    A:

Hi, try giving the PEA separately from meals in a tablespoon of plain live yoghurt / bone broth and let us know if that makes any difference over the next 10 days.

    Katy
Q: I bought a tub of PEA for my dog who suffers year round from environmental allergies, I’ve started him off on 1/4 tablet twice a day, he is 6 kgs, is this enough?
    A:

In most cases it is, but if the allergies are sever you can increase this to half a capsule twice daily. Do let us know how you get on.

    Melissa Gregan
Q: Do you offer this product for cats?
    A:

PEA is formulated for cats as well as dogs, and horses.

    Amanda
Q: My dog is currently taking yudigest, yumove skin and coat care and yumove tablets. He is also on apoquel. Would PEA replace all of these things?
    A:

After giving PEA for 12 weeks, you can gradually start reducing the dose of medication in accordance with the guidelines here to see if a lower dose is sufficient or if it is still needed at all. At that stage you could also stop the digestion and coat care products. On another note, Ultimate Joint Support provides the most effective joint comfort and care available. Do let us know how you get on.

    Lynn
Q: I have been giving my Westie PEA for 3 months. How long should I continue with PEA and should I reduce dosage after 3 months?
    A:

As a general rule if there has been a good response to PEA the daily amount can be reduced to half to see if this is sufficient for maintenance. And if it is, it can be continued indefinitely.

    Gemma
Q: Hello there, Unfortunately this has made my cat sick, I gave it to her in a creamy treat and she ate as usual alongside but has since been sick which is unusual for her, do you have any advice to help with tolerance please or is it just best to stop? She had a quarter capsule as directed.
    A:

As you cat appears sensitive to the initial amount given, try adding half this amount to a main meal. If this is tolerated, continue at this level for a month and then increase to the original dose once more to see if this suits. Do let us know how you get on.

    Joan Roddam
Q: My old Lurcher has improved amazingly on the Joints bundle, can I keep her on a maintenance dose of PEA and, how many a day please? Thank you once again for your wonderful products
    A:

Hi Joan, what does your lurcher weigh?

    Jane
Q: Could this product help my rough collie with quite bad elbow arthritis on the right hand side only
    A:

the best option in circumstances like this is Ultimate Joint Support for the reasons explained here.

    Jacqueline Turnbull
Q: Can this be given to cats?
    A:

    Yes it can.

    Cristina
Q: Hi, I’m a veterinary dermatologist interested in advising your product. However, before I do that, I would need to know what the capsules are made off as some of my patients react to certain animal proteins. Could you please advise. Thank you. Kind regards, Cristina Díaz
    A:

Hi Cristina, could you please send details of your qualifications and where you work to info@vincethevet.co.uk

    Janet
Q: Hi my schnauzer has 3 ' bulging' discs causing him pain in his back legs. Would this product be suitable as pain relief ?
    A:

PEA is produced naturally by the body to help regulate inflammation and reduce pain. Topping up this level with dietary supplementation can be highly beneficial in such circumstances. An even better option is Ultimate Joint Support for the reasons explained here .

    Sophie
Q: Hi just started PEA today and came off apoquel. I was wondering if you had any advice on how to manage the itching until the PEA kicks in? If this isn’t something you can’t answer, no problem and thanks anyways! Can’t wait to see how we get on.
    A:

We don't advise changing any medication until has been given for at least 12 weeks to give it time to reach peak effect. Guidance on this can be found here.

    Linda jennings
Q: Looking at your pain relief for injured dog do I need a joint supplement as well
    A:

    What are the injuries?

    Lou
Q: Hello, It says "Crude oils and fats: 100%" That surprises me ! My dog is prone to pancreatitis and must have a very limited fat intake. So PEA is contraindicated for him ? Thanks for your advice !
    A:

As long as your dog is already on a diet containing less than 10% fat, giving PEA at the suggested daily amount should be fine.

    Lou
Q: One more question, please: My dog is prone to pancreatitis, but he also has IBD. For these reasons, he needs a very low-fat diet. He has many intestinal sensitivities. Should PEA be avoided then ? Thank you !
    A:

PEA is well tolerated by the great majority of dogs, even those with dietary sensitivities. Stool softening can occur in a small number of pets with a history of digestive upsets, but this quickly reverses if it is paused, and restarted at half the previous amount.

    Dawn Wharrad
Q: Will this work as an alternative to librela? My dog has become desensitised to librela and needing further medication for his pain in between injections
    A:

For maximum joint comfort and care, Ultimate Joint Support is the best option for the reasons explained here.

    Lorraine Munro
Q: Hi I have a six year old cockapoo that I struggle with due to separation anxiety. I’ve come across your products from another post. Was looking at stress relief but think Pea supplement also recommended. Why would I give both products?
    A:

Both products act on the calming centre in the brain and so when anxiety is a persistent issue, better results are often chieved by giving both supplements.

    Mairead Doogan
Q: Does this need to be fed with an oil for bioavailability? Or just fed on its own. Thanks
    A:

Hi, it can be given with any kind of meal. And if easier, the capsule can be opened and the powder tipped onto food.

    Mairead doogan
Q: How many tablets daily for a 48kg labrador thanks
    A:

    2 capsules twice daily.

    Mary
Q: I give my dog 1 tsp Diatomaceous Earth in the morning on his food. Is this OK with PEA?
    A:

Yes, there is no reason why these can't be given together.

    Sharon Smallbone
Q: I have a rescued 5 year old. Border collie who weighs 16kg. She has a femur head injury which occured sometime in her life which has caused arthritis in her right hip. We have tried cortisone injection into her hip and many different medications but as soon as she has an active day she shows signs of pain. There is definite signs of her off loading onto her other leg on a permanent basis. We live in South Africa so I have bought a Product called Painless which are 700mg PEA capsules. I have given her half a capsule twice a day for 12 weeks and not seeing a significant difference. She is a very active dog who constantly takes sticks or anything she can find to anyone to be thrown for her to chase. I am constantly running around our local park begging people not to throw things for her but don't always manage to get there on time. A life on a leash would just be cruel for a border collie. Please can you advise what would be the best treatment for her going forward. I also give her GCS joint care and an Outback capsule daily as well as a omega tablet.
    A:

In our experience Ultimate Joint Support is the best option for the reasons explained here. We don't ship direct to South Africa  but can deliver to a fright forwarding company of choice in the UK.

    Naomi
Q: Can PEA be given to emu’s? If so what dosage?
    A:

No research has been carried out on the use of PEA in birds, including Emu's, unfortunately.

    Elizabeth Scott
Q: Is this available in BC Canada?

PEA is perfectly safe for a dog to have in these circumstances. Also take a look at Ultimate Joint Support as part of a kidney support diet.

    Sharon Stephens
Q: I have used PEA in the past and about to reorder can it be given indefinitely along side the ultimate anxiety releif
    A:

    Yes, it can.

    Katy
Q: My 4 year old small cross breed dog has environmental allergies ( to almost everything) He is on half a 5 mg steroid EOD, and has been on PEA for 14 weeks. At the moment he is clear, but I’m too nervous to drop the pred to a lower dose as he is so difficult to get right when he has a flare, and now is his worse time of year. So I have no idea if PEA is working! He had a month of antibiotics in March due to a flare/ infection, can you recommend suitable pro biotics to give, I gave him 3 weeks of cytoplan doggie dophilus just after he had finished the antibiotics.
    A:

It's such a low dose of steroid, it's worth waiting until the seasonal allergy season is over before trying to reduce the medication to perhaps every third day (but ask your vet first). Digestion is the best probiotic. For the best outcome we suggest giving this with Time Health's Bio Cultures (enter the code vincethevet15 at checkout to receive a 15% discount).

The Bio Cultures supplies a large number of beneficial gut flora (55 billion CFU's) while Digestion provides the fuel they need to thrive and populate the bowels. Together they boost gut microbiome health and support a healthy gut immune system

Q: Hi, I have been using pea for 16 weeks now for my french bulldog's allergies, tree & grass pollen. He is still very itchy, are you able to confirm if i can use quercetin tablets along with Pea & if so when is the best time to give, as he is also on kiki body biotics for his gut. Many thanks in advance.
    A:

Yes quercetin can be used alongside PEA, and they can be given at the same time. You might also want to read the guidance here and also add Insect plus Itch Relief to your boy's regime.

Q: Tillie- Cavalier aged 8 , suffers from a bad grass allergy - having a bad flare up at the moment - could she take this product, although already on the Cytopoint injection from the vets ( and also on YouMove 360 ) . Many thanks
    A:

Yes, PEA is safe to use alongside any medication prescribed by your vet. For even greater joint care benefits compared to any other products, Ultimate Joint Support is the bundle of choice, for the reasons explained here.

    Victoria Angel
Q: Hello. My dog is 17 and has kidney disease and arthritis. Is PEA suitable for dogs with kidney disease please. Thank you Victoria
    A:

Yes, it is perfectly safe for dogs with kidney disease.

    Sue Dennison
Q: Is there a human version of PEA as I have significant joint pain and wondered if it might help me as well as my older dogs?
    A:

You can take our PEA, as it is a human food grade supplement. 2 capsules twice daily works well for most people. If you let us know how you're getting on in 12 weeks, we can advise further.

    SAMANTHA LEA
Q: Can this be used in conjunction with yumove for a 19 year old cat with kidney disease?
    A:

    Yes, it can.

    Ruth Pomeroy
Q: Please can you give me a list of the ingredients Thanks
    A:

There is only one ingredient - 100% pure, human food grade, natural palmitoylethanolamide (PEA). To learn more on this click here.

Q: can this be given to a cat that is on Thyronorm medication and is there anything else i can give to a cat with this overactive thyroid? I am also getting some of the Kidney support as one of my other cats has just been diagnosed with kidney disease so assuming the kidney & bladder support is best for him ? thanks The vet has put him on Pronefra - I wont do a prescription diet as thats rubbish he eats organic chicken... can he have the kidney supplement with this or should i stop that? thank you
    A:

Yes, PEA is safe to use alongside any medication prescribed by your vet. Kidney plus Bladder Support is also fine to use in conjunction with drugs for kidney failure. Guidance providing nutritional support to maintain renal function can be found by clicking here.

    Dawn Dunn
Q: Is this OK for humans and dosage for a 15st male please if it is?
    A:

Yes, this PEA is made using the finest, human food grade ingredient. 2 capsules twice daily should be sufficient. Do let us know how you get on.

    Eve Tara-Vahde
Q: Is it possible to order the product to Finland (EU country)?
    A:

We can add Finland to the list of destinations for global shipping if you wish to o ahead and purchase this?

    Jennifer
Q: How long would a bottle last a 25kg dog
    A:

The dose for a 25kg dog would be one twice daily. A single bottle of 90 capsules would therefore last just over 6 weeks. After 12 weeks the dose can be reduced to one capsule daily to see if this is sufficient for maintenance. If there is any slipping back, the dose can simply be increased again.

    Laura
Q: I’ve been giving my 2 chihuahuas PEA for a few weeks. My eldest is 12 years and weighs 5kg, my youngest is 8 years and weighs 3kg. Both only have one meal a day in the evening. They only have 145g and 90g of raw food respectively. They also have your joint aid supplement added to this meal. With PEA, should I continue with the half daily amount once a day or should I give them the full amount with their meal? They don’t really have any other meals or snacks I can mix the powders into. I’m keen to continue with the supplements as I believe I’ve already noticed some improvements. Many thanks
    A:

Hi Laura, half a capsule each once daily in food should be sufficient for both. If the main meal becomes 2 dry with the addition of the powders, try adding a little bone broth, meat stock or saltless gravy to improve palatability. Alternatively give PEA powder separately in a little plain live yoghurt, cream cheese or similar. Do let us know how you get on.

    Dorothy Fregene
Q: Hi my Westie has been on PEA capsules for over 12 weeks and his itching has vastly improved. He still gets occasional outbreaks and I am wondering if you could suggest anything I can add . He is raw fed and has natural treats. I don’t feed him chicken
    A:

Great to hear! If you're not already giving Insect plus Itch Relief it would be good to add this to your Westies regime alongside PEA (2 - 3 drops twice or three times daily on a teaspoon of raw). More guidance on helping an itchy dog can be found here. If you let us know how you're getting on in a month's time we'd be happy to advise further.

    Amanda cray
Q: Will this help malassizza yeast? Many thanks
    A:

If yeast infection is secondary to a sensitivity to environmental irritants, PEA typically help 2 out of 3 dogs. It does need to be given for at least 12 weeks before gauging its effect, and if you email us (at info@vincethevet.co.uk) at that point to let us know how you're getting on, we can advise further.

    Sim Riley-Marsh
Q: Hello is this safe for dogs with kidney disease please
    A:

Yes, it is. And for guidance on how to provide nutritional support to dogs with kidney dysfunction, click here.

    Clare Thorogood
Q: I give my cats antihistamines to stop their itching. Should I stop giving them whilst on PEA?
    A:

PEA is safe to use alongside any medication prescribed by your vet including antihistamines.

    Jane
Q: Can PEA cause diarrhoea in dogs and if so when will it stop?
    A:

A very small number of dogs with sensitive digestive systems or a history of bowel upsets can experience stool softening. If this occurs, the PEA is best paused until normal stools have been passed for at least 5 days. The PEA can then be reintroduced at half the previous amount, divided between meals. This usually solves any issues. Do let us know how you get on, if this applies to your pet.

    Jayne Emery
Q: My staffie suffers with bad ears and very itchy feet - trying our best to stop her licking them. She has been on apoquel before and she has had 3 citapoint injections. Last one didn't seem to have any impact. Would this be a good option for her to try? She's 5 years old and fed on raw food. Thanks
    A:

In our experience PEA significantly soothes itchy skin in 2 out of 3 dogs reacting to environmental irritants - which predominantly affects the paws and hairless areas of the body, including the ears. It's also beneficial to give Insect plus Itch Relief to help ease skin irritation while waiting for PEA to reach peak effect, which can take up to 12 weeks for some dogs.

    Elaine Gatting
Q: My dog is already taking Ryaflex Plus for his joints. Do I need to take him off that? He also has a quarter of a paracetamol twice daily all recommended by my vet, should he still take that. He is a Sealyham terrier & is 14yrs old.
    A:

The best option in these circumstances is Ultimate Joint Support for the reasons explained here. And if you give these 3 supplements Riaflex and most likely paracetamol will be superfluous to requirements.

    Kelly Nottage
Q: Hello Vince, my 14 year old spaniel has started to slow down now! He’s currently on Golden Paste, Yumove max strength, salmon oil. Pawable powder. Woukd I need to stop any of these to put him on PEA? Thank you Kelly
    A:

The best option in these circumstances would be Ultimate Joint Support for the reasons explained here. And if you used these 3 supplements, all other joint products would be superfluous to requirements. You may also like to consider switching to algal oil from fish oil for the reasons explained here.

    Sarah Evans Evans Evans
Q: Hi Can dogs with pancreatitis take PEA ? Also, if they are taking YuMove , would this be compatible with PEA or is there no need to continue with YuMove? Many thanks
    A:

There is no evidence that PEA is not safe to use in these circumstances, when used as directed. PEA is a fatty acid amide, but it does not act like dietary fats that trigger pancreatic enzyme secretion. It is also safe to use alongside other supplements.

    Jennifer Harris
Q: Archie my 11 year old westie was on PEA for 3 months it worked tremendously. After 3 months I administered 1 PEA tablet a week again this worked well. I've run out of PEA tablets and Archie hasn't had any for a month. I've noticed he has started nibbling his paws and hotspots have appeared all these, symptoms dissappeared when he, was on PEA. Does this mean Archie needs another course of PEA or just 1 tablet a week? Does he need to be on them for life? Many thanks, for your kind help. Best wishes.
    A:

Fabulous to hear PEA worked so well for Archie! Yes, it is best that PEA is continued for life, to help the skin remain comfortable despite being exposed to whatever environmental substances are triggering the itching. For most Westies the maintenance amount would be one capsule daily - but you can give double this until the nibblin ghotspots have fully cleared. Do let us know how Archie gets on.

    Anna Jackson
Q: Can you feed joints and pea together.
    A:

Yes you can. We actually sell these 2 supplements plus the joint support remedy as a bundle for a saving of £8 here.

    Millie
Q: Would you recommend PEA or the Joints supplement for a 12cyear old lurcher who has slowed down appears to have stiffness and maybe lacking strength in rear legs. Always been very fit until this year and suddenly slowed down doesn't like the heat so weather isn't helping. Many thanks
    A:

Joints would be the product of choice initially, as this improves joint comfort and mobility in 90%+ dogs when stiffness first appears. If after 2 months there is still further room for improvement, that would be the time to upgrade to Ultimate Joint Support.

    Danny
Q: My westie has kidney disease & is on a renal diet , could this be suitable for him
    A:

Yes PEA is perfectly safe to give in these circumstances, and can also be used alongside any medication prescribed by your vet. Guidance on additional supplements that can help to maintain quality of life in kidney compromised dogs, can be found here.

    Jane OConnor
Q: Can these be taken along side Previcox?
    A:

Yes, PEA is safe to use alongside any medication prescribed by your vet.

    Danielle
Q: Good morning my dog is in thyforon for his thyroid. I wondered if you have any information about using the PEA alongside this? Thanks
    A:

Yes, PEA is safe to use alongside this drug, and any other medication prescribed by your vet.

    Emma
Q: Hi, Are there any side effect to this? My dog is very sensitive to medications and we have had to take her off all of them (under vet guidence). So just want to check sode effects before gettig this. Thanks
    A:

The only side-effect reported in more than 60 years of use, is the occasional softening of stools (usually in dogs who have a history of digestive upsets), which typically resolves when supplementation is paused and restarted at the previous dose, once formed faeces are being passed once more. It's impossible to predict in advance however, if PEA will suit a particular pet, if they are especially sensitive to supplements.

Q: How would I administer this to a 2 year old pony with manic itching? And how much would he need??
    A:

The capsules can be given inside a piece of apple or any favourite treat. 3 capsules twice daily suits most ponies. Be sure to give PEA for at least 12 weeks before gauging any effect, as it can take this long to reach peak effect in some animals.

Q: Will this help with my 2 year old bichons itchy skin and anal gland issues? In his short life he has had 3 lots of antibiotics and steroids, been on an hydrolised diet where his appetite wasn’t the best. We switched to a raw diet and he improved but then begun with burping and regurgitating especially at night. It seems the bone in the food triggered this, he has since gone onto fresh and it has disappeared. I wish for him to go back onto a raw diet. I haven’t spoken to the vets regarding this as they made it clear to me when I suggested a raw diet that they did not approve. They tend to push medication and the like. Would this help? Sorry for long post. Your advice would be most appreciated.
    A:

Hi Sarah, PEA and Insect plus Itch Relief can significantly reduce itching in 2 out of 3 dogs caused by a reaction to environmental substances (seasonal and those present all year round). NOTE:  It is important to give them for at least 12 weeks before gauging any impact, as it can take this long for PEA to reach peak effect in some pets. For guidance on how to help a pet with anal sac issues, click here.

    Wendy
Q: Can this be given with piriton
    A:

Hi Wendy, yes it can. And many pet parents find that after giving PEA for 12 weeks, Piriton  is often no longer necessary. Do let us know how you get on.

    Samantha
Q: Hello, I wondered if you could help, please? We have been giving your PEA supplement to our Jack Russell for around 13 weeks now. She has an environmental allergy. She seems particularly bad with the itching at the moment and is making her paws sore. I wondered if there is anything else I can give her or do? She is on Different dog for food and we wipe her with calendula and water after a walk. Thank you. Thank you.
    A:

Hi Samantha, first thing to do is double the dose of PEA and start giving Insect plus Itch Relief (2 - 3 drops on a teaspoon of fresh food 3 times daily) if this is not being done already. Let us know how things are going in 3 - 4 weeks time, and in the meantime have a read of the Itchy Skin Action Planhere.

    Susie Maclellan
Q: Can this be given to 5kg cats?
    A:

Yes, give half a capsule daily. (The 2 ends easily slide apart so the powder can be added to food.)

    Rachel Shaw
Q: My rescue blue staffy suffers with itchy paws and anal glands and is on a grain free diet at the moment. I already give her salmon oil on her food and pre and post biotics. I wanted to try both the immunity and the PEA - as i am hoping that both could help. But i just wanted to check that it is ok to give her both of these supplements at the same time? Many thanks
    A:

Hi Rachel, yes it is fine to give these both at the same time. Insect plus Itch Relief can also be given with these supplements to help ease skin irritation while waiting for PEA to reach peak effect - which can take up to 12 weeks for some dogs. Do let us know how you get on.

    Sarah
Q: My dog has allergies year round. Non stop. Ear infections chewing paws etc. what is the best suited supplement that could help?
    A:

To begin with, the best combination to give would be PEA and Insect plus Itch Relief. PEA in our experience helps to significantly reduce itching caused by a sensitivity to environmental irritants in 2 out of 3 dogs. Insect plus Itch Relief helps to ease skin irritation while waiting for PEA to reach peak effect, which can take up to 12 weeks in some dogs. If you let us know how things are going in 12 weeks we can advise further. Also take a look at this article and this.

    Katrina Aitchison
Q: Would this be a supplement that I would use for fireworks? We already have the thunder & fireworks remedy
    A:

Yes, PEA also acts on the calming centres in the brain. For dogs who are very sensitive to thunder, fireworks, loud noises and bangs, it is highly beneficial to give alongside the Thunder & Fireworks remedy. (For the best outcome, start as soon as it arrives and continue both until after New Year's Eve.)

Q: Hi, this product was recommended by my local raw food store. I have a blue staffy who currently has interdigital cysts, the vet has recommended trialing apoquel as she believes it’s not dietary but environmental allergies causing the cysts. Do you think this product will help reduce/stop the cysts? Thanks.
    A:

Hi, for guidance on the natural care of interdigital cysts click here.

    Linda Bradley
Q: My dog has itchy crusty eyes and very bad scaling skin. Been under vet care for 2 years and problem getting worse. Biopsies inconclusive . What can you advise please. Regards
    A:
If your vet has ruled out parasites and other common bacterial, fungal and yeast infections as the cease of itching (click here to see the tests usually performed to do this) then the next step is to give PEA and Insect plus Itch Relief.

PEA has been shown to significantly soothe itchy paws and skin in around 2 out of 3 dogs sensitive to environmental irritants.

Insect plus Itch Relief helps to ease skin irritation while waiting for PEA to reach peak effect - which can take up to 12 weeks in some dogs.

Both supplements are safe to use alongside any medication prescribed by your vet.

NOTE: it is important to continue with any drugs prescribed by your vet until PEA has been given for at least 3 months. At that point, if there has been a good response, you can discuss gradually lowering the amount of medication with your vet, to see if a lower dose is sufficient, or if it is still needed at all, as outlined here.

The next steps to take, if any, will depend on what impact PEA and the remedy have had on the skin at the 12 week stage (and may include those outlined here - itchy skin action plan).

Finally, try to eliminate all carbohydrate and sugar rich foods from the diet which fuel yeast infections and inflammation as outlined here.

Q: Hi my dog is on Synoquin would I need to stop this or can it be taken in conjunction with the pea please
    A:

PEA can be given alongside any joint supplement. For even better results, give Ultimate Joint Support for the reasons explained here.

    Antonietta Cozzolino
Q: I have a 3 year old Deer Chihuahua, Buddy. And wondering if this product PEA would help with his itch.?
    A:

Hi Antonietta, if your vet has diagnosed a sensitivity to environmental irritants / substances as the cause of itching, it's worth trialling PEA and Insect plus Itch Relief for 12 weeks, as these have been shown to bring about relief in 2 out of 3 affected dogs. And is you let us know how things are going in 12 week's time, we can advise further if necessary.

    Katia
Q: Is there any benefit in giving the PEA in the capsule rather than as the powder? I wondered if the capulse helped in ensuring the PEA got to the right part of the stomach?
    A:

Hi Katia, it makes no difference - the capsule is purely there for ease of dosing. The PEA is equally effective if the powder is tipped out and mixed with food.

    Judy Wright
Q: Hi there im looking to try these for my wire haired dachshund. Shes 10 and for the last 12 months I struggle with skin issues which are black scabby breakouts usually on her belly and back. The malaseab and isoderm cream prescribed by the vet dont cut it as they just keep popping up in other areas to where I am treating. The vet prescribes apoquel which im not happy long term to keep her on along with antibiotics and an antifungal tablet. This works but very soon they start to reappear. She's a fussy eater. Ive tried raw but she walked away from it after a while..I dont vaccinate her as my other dog developed thrombocytopenia after her routine booster and was very poorly. Im at my wits end with this issue which is costing a fortune at the vets. I would prefer to go down the homeopathic route if it would help. What are your thoughts please?
    A:

Hi Judy, if your vet has diagnosed a sensitivity to environmental irritants / substances as the cause of itching, it's worth trialling PEA and Insect plus Itch Relief for 12 weeks, as these have been shown to bring about relief in 2 out of 3 affected dogs. And is you let us know how things are going in 12 week's time, we can advise further if necessary.

    Andrea Garforth
Q: My French Bulldog is 5 years old and has always had issues with his skin, mostly paws / pads. He has been on Apoquel for around 3 years with monthly Cytopoint injections. I would really like to stop these medications and realise I can't just stop. I've been reading various questions & answers, but just need some clarification. Do I start with PEA and the Itch Relief together? When should I introduce the Immunity supplement please? I realise he will have to continue the Apoquel for at least 12 weeks. Thank you.
    A:

Hi Andrea, if your vet has diagnosed a sensitivity to environmental irritants / substances as the cause of itching, it's worth trialling PEA and Insect plus Itch Relief for 12 weeks, as these have been shown to bring about relief in 2 out of 3 affected dogs. Q: Can PEA be used instead of Vitofyllin, currently prescribed for my male 18 year old Jack Russell terrier? He's also on Propalin so I'm also wondering if your Bladder Support products would also be suitable.
    A:

Hi Judith, PEA can be used to help maintain cognitive function as outlined here.

Kidney plus Bladder Support is also helpful in these circumstances in many cases. It's important to give the remedy for at least 8 - 12 weeks however, before asking your vet if you could trial reducing the dose of medication to see if it is still needed.

Q: My 14 year old staffie has been on joint support powder for around 6 weeks now. She is prescribed gabapentin also. She suffers from arthritis. Would PEA supplement added to this help? I recently stopped using yumove max strength and replaced it with your joint powder. Please advise the best approach. Thanks
    A:

Yes, in these circumstances, adding PEA and Joint Support plus Recuperation to the regime, significantly improves joint comfort and care in most cases,  for the reasons explained here. (All 3 products can be purchased as a bundle for a saving of £6 here - Ultimate Joint Support . If you let us know how things are going in 8 week's time we can advise further if necessary.

Q: My Westie has been on one tablet (5.4mg) daily for a year. Initially it seemed to help but lately she’s scratching more than ever. Would your PEA be a suitable alternative please? If so do we need to withdraw her off the Apoquel gradually? Thanks in advance.

Q: Morning hope you had a peaceful Christmas. I have a 7 year old GSD. Has cutaneous horns grow and some cysts. Loads removed. Not healthy to keep having surgery. Not itchy generally, main problems as mentioned. Unfortunately when he can reach i.e. one again on leg. May need syrgery to stop lick syndrome. Can PEA help. He is raw fed. Thank you any advice appreciated. He is a needy GSD . Hates noise. Your advice before on Thunder and firework meds. Unfortunately does not help with bangs. Kindest regards Annette
    A:

The best option when growths / cysts of various kind are appearing, is Immunity, (given continually, long-term) as this often reflects an immune system that is weakened for some reason - as explained here. Giving Detoxification Support every month as suggested, helps to eliminate toxic environmental chemicals and waste products stored in the body, which increase the risk of abnormal growths appearing. PEA is beneficial when swellings of any kind become inflamed. Do let us know how you get on.

    Sam Bell
Q: Hi Moli had Pancreatitis/IBD Is it OK to give her PEA for her arthritis Thanks
    A:

Yes, it is safe to give PEA. An even better option if you're looking for the best possible joint comfort and care is Ultimate Joint Support for the reasons explained here.

Q: Hello I’m thinking about introducing PEA to my dogs who suffer with food and environmental allergies and they are age 4 and 6, so I’d like to prevent joint problems as well. My question is, could I administer this to them together with probiotics and supplements to help digestion such as slippery elm, marshmallow root extract and licorice extract? Are there any supplements or medications that PEA should not be taken with? Thank you so much!
    A:

Hi, there are no known incompatibilities when giving other supplements alongside PEA. If you let us know how things are going after 12 weeks (it can take up to 12 weeks for PEA to reach peak effect in some dogs), we can advise further if necessary.

    Catherine Moule
Q: Hi, this seems to be a wonder drug that solves almost anything. Are there any contra-indications? My dog has a heart murmur and valve leakage. Is it safe to give him PEA without seeing a vet first?
    A:

There are no known contraindications for PEA, and it is safe to give alongside any medication prescribed by your vet. The main benefits of PEA is in supporting healthy skin, joints and nerve function, plus easing discomfort and soothing skin irritation. The best option when the goal is to help  maintain healthy heart function, is Enhanced Hear Support.

Q: Hi, i keep reading that pea should be given with quercetin. I am so confused with all these anti itch remedies. This is for English Setter with itchy feet, elimination diet done, vet thinks environmental but fed up with sticking plaster meds want to start looking at treating from within.
    A:

Hi, three's no need for this to be given alongside A inmost cases. We've helped more than 10,000 itchy dogs with PEA and none needed quercetin.

Q: Hi, I have a dog that is itchy, allergen unknow, could be part environmental and part protein intolerance, is this effective for this? Thanks.
    A:

PEA has been shown to significantly reduce itching in 2 out of 3 dogs reactive to environmental substances. It is best to give for 12 weeks before gauging the response, as it can take up to 12 weeks to reach peak effect in some dogs. It's also worth giving Insect plus Itch Relief remedy at the same time to help ease skin irritation while waiting to assess the impact of giving PEA for 3 months. If you let us know how things are going in 12 week's time, we can advise further if necessary.

Q: My dog is a mini schnauzer and the breed is prone to pancreatitis, is this product safe for him to take. He is currently on Apoquel but I would like to change him onto PEA
    A:
Yes it is given: PEA is not a fat that stimulates the pancreas; there is currently no documented link to pancreatitis; metabolism is local, not systemic, it has an excellent safety profile.

    Chris brocklehurst
Q: My Westie has chronic pancreatitis - if PEA Cos 100% palm oil, is it still ok to give her as part of a very fat restricted diet?
    A:

    Hi Chris,

PEA is not a fat that stimulates the pancreas:

    - it is a fatty acid amine which does act like dietary fats that trigger pancreatic enzyme secretion
    - it is not known to worsen pancreatic inflammation or stimulate digestive activity

There is currently no documented link to pancreatitis:

    - there is no evidence in veterinary or human literature that PEA contributes to the development or recurrence of pancreatitis

    - it has been studied for anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective roles, which may even be beneficial in managing post-pancreatitis pain or inflammation.

    Metabolism is local, not systemic:

PEA acts primarily at a cellular level to downregulate mast cell activation and modulate the endocannabinoid system, and is not broken down into triglycerides that would burden the pancreas.

    Excellent safety profile:

Studies in many species, including humans, equines and dogs have shown no significant adverse side-effects on on thre pancreas and other organs, even at higher-than-recommended doses.

Q: Hi vince. My sister takes a lot of meds due to past kidney issue & also due to heart attack a couple of years ago. She also takes anti depressants. She has had bad lower back pain for some time which is diagnosed as wear & tear basically. Would she benefit from pea & anything else as she really worries about strong pain relief. My other sister successfully takes pea for hip bursitis
    A:

Hi Julie, yes PEA is certainly worth trialling for a couple of months at last. In one human study, 610 people suffering from chronic pain which wasn't being managed by traditional means, all taking PEA for a minimum of 7 weeks experienced a significant reduction in pain intensity. It would also be highly beneficial for your sister to take Joints to help nourish and lubricate the musculoskeletal tissues in the back  Do let us know how you get on.

    Susan Cullip
Q: Is this safe to use alongside Vetmedin, Yumove and Loxicom? Thanks Sue
    A:

Yes it is. Even better, is to give the 3 supplements in Ultimate Joint Support as many pet parents find that after giving these for 12 weeks, other joint products are no longer necessary. And in some cases, medication can also be reduced, or withdrawn altogether. Do let us know how you get on.

Q: My spaniel has chronic hepatitis as a result of a benign tumor on her liver and has been on 7.5mg steroids a day for the last 3 years. At 13 she also now has early CKD. She's starting to struggle with spinal arthritis, would she be OK on PEA whilst also taking steroids and incurin?
    A:

Yes, PEA is safe to use alongside any medication prescribed by your vet, and also does not adversely affect kidney function. If you let us know how things are going in 12 week's time, we can advise further if necessary.

    Bethany Ellis
Q: Hi, my Frenchie on these tablets Phenobarb , he has half in the morning and half in the evening with his food. Are these supplements ok for him to take in addition to the medication?
    A:

Yes PEA is fine to use alongside this and any other medication prescribed by your vet. You may also find this guidance of interest.

    Anne Harrison
Q: Which one do I need for itching

The best option to begin with, is to give  PEA for 12 weeks and then report back for further guidance.

Q: I'm using PEA for my dog with seasonal allergies and it's worked brilliantly, last year I started with seasonal allergies, contact allergic dermatitis, it's started again this year ( my allergy is tree pollen) would PEA work for me?
    A:

It's certainly worth trialing, as PEA has been shown to help the same conditions in people as animals. Start with 2 capsules twice daily of our PEA (made using the highest quality human food grade ingredients) . And if you let us know how things are going in 12 week's time, we can advise further if necessary.

    Wendy
Q: Would this help horses with sweet itch?
    A:

PEA and Insect plus Itch Relief  are certainly worth trialling for 12 week's in these circumstances, as PEA helps to stabilise mast cells which are involved in allergic reactions, and the remedy helps to ease skin irritation while waiting for PEA to reach peak effect, which can take up to 12 weeks for some animals. If you let us us know how things are going after 12 weeks on both of these supplements, we can advise further if necessary.

    Alison
Q: My german shepherd, aged 3.5 is being investigated for hip dysplasia, she also has atopic dermatitis. Is this a good product to start using with her? Thank you
    A:

The best option for joint issues in these circumstances is Ultimate Joint Support for the reasons explained here. Also add in Insect plus Itch Relief to complement the PEA in the joint bundle, as both these supplements help to reduce itching in 2 out of 3 dogs reactive to environmental substances. And if you let us know how things are going in 12 week's time, we can advise further if necessary.

    Lesley Westlake
Q: Would taking pea help with shoulder impingement I’ve just started physio so wondering if combination of that and the pea would be of benefit Apart from physio I’ve offered steroid injection which I’ve turned down Thanks in advance
    A:

Hi Lesley, the best option in these circumstances would be Ultimate Joint Support for the reasons explained here. Joints provides the nutritional building blocks for the body to heal damaged / strained musculoskeletal tissues and better lubricate joints. PEA aids the body's natural anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving pathways to increase joint comfort and mobility. The following suits most people. Joints - 2 teaspoons twice daily (mixed in a smoothie, soup, bone broth, porridge, yoghurt or similar). PEA 2 capsules twice daily. Joint Support plus Recuperation: 2 -3 drops 3 times daily on a clean tongue. If you let us know how things are going in 8 week's time we can advise further if necessary.

    Marquita
Q: I noticed that for the PEA for the weight of my dog under the directions it is written 1/2 capsule daily. In another image that I found of the rear of the bottle 1/2 TWICE daily is written. So for my senior (17 year old) dog who weighs 6 kgs and has severe arthritis what is the correct dose to give? Thank you
    A:

Half a capsule daily should be fine.

    Lesley Keddy
Q: My dog won't take capsules. Do you sell this in powder form?
    A:

The capsules easily slide apart so the powder can be mixed into food.

    Jennifer Baldwin
Q: Is this compatible with other joint supplements galliprant and paracetamol
    A:

Yes it is. An even better option if maximum joint comfort and care is the goal is Ultimate Joint Support for the reasons explained here And when giving these 3 supplements, there is usually no need for any other joint products.

Q: Hello, My 6 year old galgo ( 28 kilo ) has been on Trental and Apoquel for some years .... he was first put on trental as he had painful ears and diagnosed with vascilitus. He also had a recurring ear infection . He is still quite bald and pink skinned. The vet put him back on apoquel last summer. He was on an elimination diet when i first adopted him ( 5+ years ago ) as he had ulcerated sores on his elbows and biting his sides a lot. He is on a vegetarian kibble Benevo now and i add tinned lamb and pumpkin so not on a single protein diet as first suggested, but he seems to do ok on it. He is not to eat chicken. My vet is insistent he be on Trental for life now and although now only on half tablet of Apoquel daily i am not keen on him being on it indefintely. I am wondering if the PEA is what is should try ?
    A:

It is certainly worth trialing PEA in these circumstances for it's mast cell stabilising and anti-inflammatory properties. And when a sensitivity to environmental substances is also a factor, combining it with Insect plus Itch Relief is a good idea. If you give both for 12 weeks and then let us know how things are going, we can advise further if necessary. Both these supplements are safe to give alongside any medication prescribed by your vet.

    Willow
Q: Is this safe to use long term? Do you suggest taking a break at any point if it’s being used as a long term supplement?
    A:

There is no evidence that supplementing with PEA long term causes any ill-effects. It can therefore be given for as long as it is delivering health benefits.

    Susan McGhee
Q: Hi My 8yr old working cocker has a number of joint issues and currently gets PRP and stem cell therapy to stop further deterioration. I’m looking to add a supplement to help keep inflammation down. I’m not sure if I should use PEA or your Joint Supplement. He does get a little itch but nothing too excessive (eg his skin is not broken or red). Which supplement would you recommend
    A:

Hi Susan, have replied by email. Kind regards, Vince

    Sarah Adkinson
Q: Hi Can I please ask, is this product appropriate for a young dog long term, my dog has some strange symptoms, possibly inflammation in lungs and I think this has really helped him but concerned re long term treatment. He has seen the vet several times but they are at a loss re cause and offer such things as steroids which I do not want to give him. Many thanks Sarah
    A:

Hi Sarah, yes PEA can be given long-term as long as it continues to deliver benefits, as there is no evidence to the contrary. Whenever a dog displays strange respiratory signs it is advisable to screen for intestinal worms and lungworm using this kit if it has not been done in the last 3 months. I hope this helps and do keep us posted on how you get on.

Q: Hi, I was hoping for doseage advice please. I have a 2 year old 2.4kg chihuahua I would like to give PEA however your doseage guidance is from 4kg. Please tell me how much I should give her daily? Thank you, Jade
    A:

Hi Jade, you're little girl would only need around a quarter of a capsule daily. The 2 ends of the capsule easily slide apart so the powder can be mixed in food. (PEA is extremely safe and so there's no need to worry about giving slightly more.) If you let us know how things are going in 12 weeks time, we can advise further if necessary.

    Rachel Bradshaw
Q: Hi is the PEA micronised? Thanks
    A:

No, this isn't necessary with our PEA, given the remarkable benefits seen in more than 10,000 pets over the last 2 years - as attested by the testimonials on our Facebook page and website.

    Iris
Q: Can you tell me what the other ingredients are in this supplement
    A:

There are no other ingredients, the powder / granules in the capsules are 100% pure palmitoylethanolamide. The vegetarian capsules are made from plant derived Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose. If preferred the ends can be slid apart and the powdered PEA mixed into food.

    Sean Morgan
Q: Would PEA be a good substitute for cytopoint injections, as they don't seem to really have much effect.

Q: Would PEA be as effective for vascular dementia as Vitofyllin, which was prescribed for my 18 year old Jack Russell Terrier? I still have a few months' supply of Vitofyllin but would like to phase this out and replace with your PEA product.
    A:

PEA works differently to drugs used to improve cerebral blood flow. It's neuroprotective properties help to maintain normal neurological function. Given alongside pure, organic coconut oil, both help to preserve cognitive abilities and mental awareness as pets age as described here. Both of these are safe to give with any medication prescribed by your vet.

Q: I have a dog with IBD (he also has skin issues) who presently is on a hydrolyzed hypoallergenic diet due to severe weight loss. He used to have Butternut Box. Would this product interfere with the hypoallergenic diet?
    A:

    Hi Jilly, no it wouldn't.

Q: Subject: Inquiry regarding the source and specification of PEA (Palmitoylethanolamide) in your product Dear Vince the Vet Team, I hope this email finds you well. I am a loyal follower of your brand, and I am currently looking into purchasing your PEA product for my 6-year-old Labrador Retriever, who has recently undergone a Total Hip Replacement (THR) surgery. Due to his severe chronic joint inflammation and heightened post-op sensitivity, I am highly selective about the quality and bioavailability of the ingredients. I am very interested in your PEA supplement, and I would appreciate it if you could clarify a few details regarding the raw materials used in your formulation: Brand/Source of Raw Material: Could you please specify whether the PEA used in your product is OptiPEA® or Levagen+®? If it is from another proprietary source, could you share its origin? Bioavailability & Particle Size: Is the PEA used in your product micronized or ultra-micronized to ensure optimal absorption in dogs? Alternatively, does it utilize any lipid-delivery technology (like Lipisperse®) to enhance bioavailability? Purity and Testing: Could you confirm the purity percentage of the active PEA per serving, and whether each batch undergoes third-party testing for heavy metals and contaminants? Given my dog's specific recovery needs and potential long-term supplementation, knowing the exact source of your ingredients will give me great peace of mind before making the purchase. ?Thank you very much for your time and dedication to pet health. I look forward to your professional response. ? Warm regards, ?LDD.

Q: Hi, my gsd x rottie's are on antinol , riaflex and pawable collogen for early arthritis ( 6yrs and 5yrs) im going to order the joints and PEA, do I take them off the riaflex and pawable straight away please,? Thankyou.
    A:

The best option in these circumstances is Ultimate Joint Support for the reasons explained here. And when giving these 3 supplements there is no need for any other joint products. (You can finish off any you still have while making a start on Joints, PEA and Joint Support plus Recuperation.) If you let us know how things are going in 12 week's time, we can advise further if necessary.

Q: Is this suitable for a puppy of 4 months?
    A:

Yess, PEA can be given at any age from weaning onwards. Why is this being considered for such a young dog?

    Sally Goldthorpe
Q: I have been giving my 27kg dog 2 capsules of PEA daily for 3 weeks so far, hoping to get him off the Apoquel (half 16mg tablet a day). In the last few days he has been more itchy and I’ve given him another half tablet in the evening so that he will settle. It’s been wet weather but diet (raw breakfast and cold pressed dry food during day plus natural chews) same. Is this potentially a (temporary?) reaction to PEA and should I continue with it? He is sensitive to some things eg Green lipped mussels and algae oil. Thank you
    A:

Increased itching at this time of the year is usually due to exposure to a higher level of seasonal irritants / substances that trigger itching. We've never had any reports of PEA causing such a reaction. Unfortunately, it can take up to 12 weeks for PEA to reach peak effect for some dogs, and so any impact can't be fully gauged until then. Increasing the dose to 3 or 4 capsules daily may help in the meantime, as can giving the Insect plus Itch Relief remedy. (If this is not already being given, it can be started now.) I hope this helps, and if you let us know how things are going in 9 weeks time, we can advise further if necessary.

Q: Hi, would pea be safe to use in a cavalier with MCAAD? Many thanks
    A:

There is currently no evidence that PEA supplementation is unsafe for dogs with MCAAD. This is due to the fact that PEA is a long chain fatty acid amide, and is not a medium chain triglyceride (MCT) which is the fat that causes problems in affected animals. As with any supplement, always consult your vet with regards to monitoring for any potential side-effects.

    Diane Boreham
Q: Does this work on arthritis in dogs and would I need to stop metacam
    A:

The best option in these circumstances, is Ultimate Joint Support for the reasons explained here. This provides the greatest natural relief of joint discomfort, and support for ease of movement and mobility. If you let us know how things are going in 12 week's time, we can advise further if necessary.

Q: Hi, my dog has IBD, I have been using the 3 powders ( digestive /immunity / vitality ). A new symptom which the vet thinks may be allergy related is small frugally lumps. They don’t appear to be itchy but small amount of hair loss around them , could this help. Vet didn’t seem concerned by them. But they have got a little worse. Thank you
    A:

PEA is certainly worth trialing for 12 weeks in these circumstances, for its anti-inflammatory properties, which helps a wide range of eruptions. If you let us know how things are going at the end of this period, we can advise further if necessary. ????

Q: I have had a appointment with a mctimoney chiropractor this morning and she recommended your pea capsules for my 12 year old whippet. She has just started on ursodoxycholic acid for sludge in her gall bladder. I have bought some but then just wanted to check that it would be okay to use alongside the urso. Thank you
    A:

Hi Ros, yes PEA is safe to use alongside any medication prescribed by your vet.

    Gay Griffiths
Q: Hi ... could you tell me whats the highest dose of pea per day you can give a 52kg dog she has had a brake out and has a rash ... at this moment she is on 2 twice daily
    A:

The dose of PEA can be doubled in circumstances like this, which is often due to reactions caused by spiking pollen counts. (NOTE: it's also important to check for evidence of fleas and other skin parasites.) That said, you may wish to give 3 capsules twice daily for a week first, to see if that proves sufficient. Giving Insect plus Itch Relief alongside PEA can also help to further ease skin irritation at times like this. Do let us know how you get on.

    Alison Dewdney
Q: Have started to use PEA on my 11yr old mini schnauzer as he gets very itchy in the summer months. It appears to be lessening the symptoms after 2 months. He is raw fed, with no chemical flea & worm treatments. I will purchase another bottle shortly. My question is should he continue with this throughout the year or should he have a break in the winter months?
    A:

Hi Alison, this is very encouraging given that it can take up to 12 weeks for PEA to reach peak effect for some dogs, and so there's still room for further improvement. If you're not already giving Insect plus Itch Relief alongside PEA this is worth considering as the remedy also helps to relieve skin irritation. If itching is purely seasonal PEA can be paused during the months when the skin is normally fine. If you'd like to email a photo of your boy to info@vincethevet.co.uk along with a little feedback, we'd love to share these with other pet parents who might find themselves in a similar position.

    Gill Cooper
Q: Hi , is the Pea supplement safe for human use ?(
    A:

Hi, yes it is. We use only the highest quality, human food grade palmitoylethanolamide in our PEA. 2 capsules twice daily suit most people. This can be increased after 12 weeks if there is still room for improvement. Do let us know how you get on.

    Emma
Q: Is it safe to use PEA with Yumove? Thanks,
    A:

Yes, the 2 are fine to use together. An even better option is to replace Yumove with Ultimate Joint Support for the reasons explained here.

    Lisa Goldblatt
Q: I want to try this on my cat who has a lot of allergies and scratches all the time. The problem is that he is extremely fussy and when I put medicine in his food, he knows. I can't give it to him by mouth so it has to go in his food. I have thrown out so many supplements etc because of this and have taken him off of steroids for the same reason. I need to know if this pill is bitter in any way and if it has been given to pets in their food successfully. I look forward to your response. Thank you.
    A:

PEA is relatively bland and many pets, including cats, take it mixed into any wet food (the capsules easily slide part so the powder can be tipped out). We can't guarantee that a particular cat will accept the PEA as every individual is different.

    Rebecca Robins
Q: I have a 5yr old Sealyham terrier, bitch, unspayed. Has had ear infections and allergies since her first vaccination. Done all the food eliminations and the best achieved is lightly cooked pork. It is mostly her ears, paws anal glands that are troublesome. Ears are kept in check with tris nac and otodine at the moment. Have been working with an holistic vet for 2 years, hoping to find a homeopathy remedy, but nothing yet is quite right. She is very sensitive both to supplements and most things put on her skin. Herbs seem to cause reactions by making her reactive, unsettled and barky, as do some foods. She is difficult when in season and very stressed when having a phantom. I have looked at your PEA numerous times, but am a bit nervous of trying things. So my question is whether it is likely she would react to it.
    A:

Hi, can you email further details to info@vincethevet.co.uk so we can better advise on your options.

    Louise Cranmer
Q: Hi. We've been using PEA for a year or so with our lab. It's helped loads but she is really struggling with itching at the moment. We give her 1 tablet twice a day. She weighs approximately 26kg. Would you suggest increasing the dosage please?
    A:

Yes, breakthrough itching is common at this time of the year when pollen counts are exceptionally high. Double the PEA and also give Insect plus Itch Relief at the same time to provide additional relief as  outlined here. If you let us know how things are going in 4 week's time, we can advise further if necessary.

    Catherine
Q: I'm moving my dogs arthritic supplement care as her kidney is now at stage 2 and she has had liver issues in the past also. Is this supplement ok for her to take - ie: low phosphorous et al.?
    A:

    Yes, PEA contains no phosphorus.

    Shirley Le Roux
Q: Do you deliver PEA to South Africa please
    A:
