Q: What is the dosage of the new pea
A: Hi Rebecca, for cats it's half a capsule daily. For dogs up to 10kg it's half twice daily, for dogs up to 25kg it's one twice daily and for dogs 26kg and upwards it's 2 capsules twice daily. For horses it's 3 twice daily.

Q: Hi
Alison Wanstall has been helping me & she emailed you regarding my 3 year old Westie with ongoing seasonal itchy skin problems. Your advice was that you thought he’d benefit from your new PEA supplement. I watched your zoom meeting this morning and am ready to order some. I’d like to know what is the dosage & how many tubs do I need for the initial 12 week period?
Assuming this supplement works, would I need to keep him on this supplement all year round?
Thank you for your help
Julie Houston
A: Hi Julie, for the average Westie of around 10kg the dose would be half a capsule twice daily and so one bottle would last 90 days / 3 months. Do let us know how you get on.
Jude
Q: What is the dosage for dogs please? My bc’s are 15 and 18 kg

Large (26kg - 35kg plus): 2 capsules twice daily.
One capsule twice daily for both. ????

Q: I have a 11 year old Staffordshire bull terrier, at the moment he his on apoloquel for itchy skin, and liberal injection for arthritis, would this be beneficial for him, as I keep looking for alternatives more natural.
A: Hi Sharon, PEA has proved to be effective at reducing itching in 2 out or 3 dogs with Atopy (a sensitivity to environmental allergens). It has also been shown to be very effective at relieving joint discomfort. Give the PEA for 12 weeks and then follow the guidance here and here.

Q: My dog was on Apoquel to manage his allergies - for over 2 years!! He had infection after infection and the breaths across his whole body were ridiculous.
He’s been off it nearly 4 months. I have improved his gut health and have switched him to a raw diet consisting of only 2 proteins. He is much much better, the break outs are mainly on his feet and the lower parts of his back legs.
He’s not massively itchy, unless you give him a scratch! He does lick…but that tends to be after I’ve soaked his feet/legs in Epsom salts/bicarb.
Would PEA be of benefit to him and help with the breakouts he’s still having (even though they are now less and not so severe), or shall I stick with what I’m doing and just wait it out a bit longer?
A: PEA has been shown to significantly reduce itching in 2 out of 3 dogs with a sensitivity to environmental allergens. On this basis alone it is worth trialling for 12 weeks to see what impact it has on your dog's skin problems. Do let us know how you get on.

Q: Hello, could you tell me what source the PEA is derived from, as I have read that some come from (palm oil, safflower, sunflower, soy etc...) Also are there any "Other Ingredients" listed past the main like (silica,Microcrystalline cellulose Magnesium Sterate etc...) Lastly is this Ultra micronized PEA? Thank you for your help!
A: The PEA is extracted from sustainably sourced palm oil. It is micronised for optimum bioavailability. The powder is 100% pure palmitoylethanolamide with no other ingredients / additives of any kind. The capsule (which doesn't have to be given if the powder is tipped out (the two ends easily slide apart) is vegetarian. All this information can be viewed by scrolling down the product page and clicking on the + next to INGREDIENTS to expand the composition panel.

Q: One of my dogs has Leishmaniasis and is on low purine diet, what are the ingredients and could he have this ?
A: The PEA is extracted from sustainably sourced palm oil. It is micronised for optimum bioavailability. The capsule (which doesn't have to be given if the powder is tipped out (the two ends easily slide apart) is vegetarian. Q: I found this in Canada for humans could I give to my dog it is 400mg if so how much would I give to a 20lb dog?
A: Hi Carol, we can't comment on another product unfortunately because we have no way of knowing how it is produced, from what, what the certificate of analysis results are (which measures levels of heavy metals and potentially pathogenic microbes are etc.

Q: Reo my Frenchie dog 8 months is on an elimination raw diet he also gets pre and probiotics and Piriton he’s doing better now but still gets itchy eyes one of his teats and runny eyes and nose would this help him and can he take it everything I’m doing
A: PEA has been shown to significantly reduce itching and inflammation in 2 out of 3 dogs who are sensitive to environmental allergens.
If you vet has diagnosed an allergic reaction as the reason for the eye and nose signs, it is worth trialling for 12 weeks on this basis.
Do let us know how you get on.
Nicola Pilling
Q: Can this be given (in food) the same time as Onsior?
A: Hi Nicola, yes it can.
Katey Bowness
Q: Hello
Is this suitable for dogs with sensitive tummies, and for those who are on a different joint supplement to use alongside
A: Hi Katey, as a general rule, we advise giving half the dose to dogs with sensitive stomachs just to be on the safe side. And yes it can be given alongside additional joint supplements. Foe the best possible combination we advise Ultimate Joint Support for the reasons explained here.
Victoria
Q: Hi, I have recently started my dog on this PEA supplement for her joints. In the last couple of days we have found out she has a heart murmur and a cardiologist has diagnosed Mitral Valve Disease. The cardiologist has put her on Vetmedin. Can I still give her thissupplement?
A: Hi Victoria, yes PEA is safe to use alongside any medications prescribed by your vet.

Q: Hi I am interested in trying the PEA supplement for my 5 year old French bulldog, she has suffered for years with allergies both food and environmental. She has been on apoquel most of her life and has tried cytopoint injections but we had to stop them as she was allergic to the injection and had bad reactions. Although she takes apoquel tablets she still constantly licks her paws and gets itchy ears. Would the PEA supplement help her and could we use it instead of the apoquel??
Thank you
A: Hi Kate, we're sorry to hear of your poor girl's problems, which sadly affect many Frenchies. Given that PEA has been shown to significantly reduce itching in 2 out of 3 dogs reacting to environmental allergens, PEA is certainly worth trying. You may find that itching persists if she continues to be exposed to food allergens, but that it becomes less intense and require a lower dose of medication if the reaction to allergens inside and outside the home is reduced. If you let us know how things are going in 12 week's we can advise further. Also read through the guidance here and here.
Louise Patterson
Q: Hi there

Many thanks!

Q: Can PEA be given with Pardale v that my vet prescribed
Corinne Davies
Q: I’m confused, is Pea for both dogs and humans?
I have a dog with arthritis who is on librela, paracetamol and I’m using your joint Vince the vet supplement. His beard (large miniature schnauzer) is brown from licking his joints. Would he benefit from adding pea to his regime?
I too have osteoarthritis, can I take pea too?
A: PEA is beneficial for humans, dogs, cats and other animals. Adding PEA and the Joint Support plus Recuperation remedy to your dog's joint support regime is likely to help a great deal for the reasons described here. The dose for people is 2 capsules twice daily for 12 weeks and then reduce to one twice daily for maintenance. A lady has just posted this on our Facebook page:
"I have had exercise related pain ( 40+ years of netball) in hips and knees that had become significantly worse in the last year. I was seriously considering retiring this year as the pain was so bad. I was unable to get up from sitting unaided and couldn't run upstairs as I have always done. After a week on PEA ( I have been taking VTV Joints for a few months) I had much reduced pain and increased mobility. After another week I am now practically pain free and running upstairs and able to get up from sitting unaided. Absolutely delighted After feeling my sporting days were over!"

Q: If using the PEA, will I still need a muti vitamin and a glucosamine chondroiten? I use your vitality and immunity. I ran out of the immunity and of course my westie has something on his skin. The groomer said yeast, not 100% sure.
A: PEA is a natural anti-inflammatory and analgesic and supplementation significantly reduces discomfort and inflammation in joints. The best Joint supplement to use alongside PEA for maximum joint care and mobility is Joints which is far superior to glucosamine and chondroitin for the reasons explained here.

Q: I have a 3 year old French bulldog who is itchy, licking, gets ear infections constantly. She has been on steroids and apoquel for nearly 18 months now, if I got this for her could I stop the other medication?? I want to stop the medication altogether without her suffering. Would I also still use the pre/probiotic she currently has? Any help is greatly appreciated
A: Hi Lorraine, guidance on how to best use PEA when already giving medication can be found by clicking on this link.
And yes you can continue with the pre and probiotic you are using (if you would like advice on an alternative at any stage, do drop us s line at info@vincethevet.co.uk).

Pam
A: Yes, we ship globally.

Thanks

Q: Hi I have been giving my cat Pea for 11 days now. On the bottle it says cats one quarter of a pill a day but on one of the questions above it says half a day. Could you tell me which it is please?
Many thanks!
A: It depends on weight. The average cat weighs around 3kg and a quarter of a capsule would be sufficient for such a pet. For larger cats weighing around 5kg or more, half a capsules would be better.
Rob
Q: Hi. Our Welsh Terrier (4 yrs) licks paws and is itchy. He has always been on a raw diet. Ears get infected and can get smelly. Tried elimination diet. He is on cytopoint for itching and twice a week steroid for ears (no probs since been on that). We’re told the smell is yeast and I guess this ties in with some of the other issues. We feed a pre and probitic chew (Bella and Duke) to try and help with the yeast. Could PEA deal with all of this potentially? Or any other suggestions?
Kim Gleed
Q: I have a 2.5kg chihuahua with chronic joint issues, what dosage would I give her?
A: A quarter of a capsule daily. The ends easily slide apart so the powder can be mixed in food.
Marilyn Roberts
Q: Before buying Pea what natural home remedy would you suggest to rule out fungal infection. It is just my boy's feet nowhere else. Thankyou.
A: Hi, have replied to this on Facebook. To confirm if a fungal or yeast infection is present, it is best if a vet swabs an affected area, smears the sample obtained on a slide, stains it and examines this under a microscope. It is important to be aware that yeast infections are often secondary to another cause, which needs to be identified and successfully addressed to provide a long term cure. More information can be found here - https://www.vincethevet.co.uk/.../yeasty-skin-tried-all...

Q: Can you give this alongside Apoquel
A: Yes, you can. Click on this link for guidance on how to best use PEA when already giving medication.
Suzie
Q: Hi, my girl is currently on 7.5mg prednisolone daily for itching, recurrent ear infections. She has been on the steroids for a few years and this successfully manages her allergies which are thought to be environmental. Can this be used in conjunction with the hope of eventually weaning her off the steroids. She is almost 13 and may start to require pain meds for mobility although she is doing well for her age and remains active managing 1hr of walks daily (split up)
Thankyou
A: Hi Suzie, yes PEA can be given alongside steroids. Guidance on how to best do this with a view to reducing medication can be found by clicking on this link. With regards to mobility Ultimate Joint Support provides the best possible joint comfort and care in circumstances like this, for the reasons explained here.

Q: My dog is having Rheumocam at the moment to help, he has some arthritis in his back legs still going walks eating fine. Having read all your pain problems not showing any of those. Will PEA be able to be given to him along with his current medication he is 13 years old a border collie.
A: Yes, PEA can be given alongside any medication prescribed by your vet. An even better option would be to give Ultimate Joint Support which provides the best possible joint comfort and care in circumstances like this, for the reasons explained here.
Jennifer Whyte
Q: My Border Collie was given Apoquel in August as she was scratching her chest belly it did stop for awhile but started again. I have bought shampoo and balm but she won't let me apply any. Also give her Salmon oil and Nutripaw ant allergy treats but still scratching although maybe not as much. We did think it might be seasonal as we have a park with long grass beside us which she walks in. Would pea help prevent itching as not really wanting to give her Apoquel again or steroids.
Janet
Q: "My dog is 12 years old and has heart disease (MMVD), which has progressed to stage C. Six months ago, a gingival tumor appeared in her mouth, and we had it surgically removed last week. Our goal is to prevent or slow down the recurrence of the tumor as much as possible. Can she take this product? Will it be effective? She is also on diuretics (furosemide) and pimobendan. Is there any conflict with these medications?"
A: Supplementation to support quality of life for as long as possible in circumstances like this, can be found by clicking on this link. These supplements can be added to a commercial pet food diet if home-cooking is not practical for any reason. As heart disease is also present - this remedy will also be beneficial.
Julie Windrow
Q: Hi. My sister is on numerous medications due to a heart attack last year. She also has spondylitis in her lower spine & is struggling as she's reluctant to take anti inflammatories. Would she benefit from PEA
A: Hi Julie, it's certainly worth trialling, given that in a clinical study involving 610 people who were unable to control chronic pain with standard therapies, all who completed the trial experienced a significant reduction on pain intensity after 7 weeks. We suggest taking 2 capsules twice daily to begin with and then, if there is a good response, reducing to one capsule twice daily for maintenance, to see if this is sufficient for continued relief.
Pam Willis
Q: Is this suitable for a dog on a low fat diet
A: Given at the suggested dose, this is usually the case, but it can depend on the reason for the low fat diet.
Chrissy
Q: Do I continue giving my dog the same dose of PEA long term or reduce the dose after an initial period?
A: After the initial 12 weeks, the dose can be reduced to half the previous amount to see if this is sufficient for maintenance.
linda lissamore
Q: Can humans take this for joint pain?
A: Absolutely! We use only the finest quality, human food grade palmitoylethanolamide in our PEA. And in one trial involving 610 people suffering from chronic pain which couldn't be managed by conventional means, all experienced a significant reduction in pain intensity following 7 weeks supplementation with PEA. You may also find the following feedback of interest - click here. The dose is 2 capsules twice daily for 12 weeks, and then, if there has been a good response, it can be reduced to one twice daily to see if this is sufficient for maintenance.

Q: Needing for a horse
So any idea where can get a suitable product as capsules probably won't work
But need effectiveness still
A: The capsules easily come apart so that the powered can be mixed into any food. And we've not had any horse guardians reporting our PEA was not accepted.

Q: My xl bully had seasonal skin allergies but at the moment doesn’t seem to be clearing up as quick as before just wondering which help you would recommend with thanks tracey
A: The best supplement in these circumstances is PEA as it has been shown to significantly reduce itching in 2 out of 3 dogs sensitive to environmental allergens.
Sophie Pawson
Q: Where can I find the daily dosage for my 28kg bulldog? Sorry lots of info on here and I’m struggling to find the specifics around dosage for dogs! Thanks
A: Hi Sophie, it's 2 capsules twice daily for 12 weeks, and then, if there has been a good response reduce to one capsule twice daily to see if this is sufficient for maintenance. If you scroll down the page until you see DIRECTIONS on the left hand side, you will find the instructions there.

Q: I have read the guidance on introducing PEA to dogs currently on apoquel and note that it states consulting with our vet and working with them to reduce the apoquel intake over time etc. Unfortunately our vet is against anything natural and it’s making it difficult to take the leap and gradually (hopefully) switch to PEA, as we are “going it alone”. In our area, vets are scarce and so changing our practice isn’t really an option we have. Is there any advice for those of us who don’t have vets that are so willing to help us introduce natural alternatives?! I am worried about side effects of reducing and eventually stopping apoquel if I don’t have that professional help but I am desperate to they my dog off apoquel and onto all natural like the rest of her diet/supplements. I’m feeling a bit stuck!
A: Hi Melanie, completely understand, you're not the only pet parent who finds themselves in this position unfortunately. The first step is to giver PEA for 12 weeks and then email info@vincethevet.co.uk with details of your dog's weight, diet and medication at that point so we can advise further.

Q: Hi,i have dog with lupus and lymphoma,is this product good for him?Thank you
A: PEA has natural anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties and for these reasons may be of benefit for your dog. In addition to this, guidance on supporting a dog with cancer naturally can be found here.
Gaynor Goodwin
Q: Would it work for a dachshund with alopecia? That`s what she takes Apoquel for.
A: Is the skin itchy, and does the Apoquel work?
Marie Brown
Q: What is the dosage per dog please? We have 3 dogs that we want to try on it for itchiness/allergies, and potentially several more dogs for pain relief (arthritic joints) and another who has age-related cognitive issues. So we're wondering how many we need to order. Do you do any bulk discount?
A: The dosages can be found by scrolling down the PEA product page until 'DIRECTIONS' appears on the left hand side. Clicking on the + to the right of the heading will open up the dosing instructions panel. Dual and triple packs of PEA are available which discounts the price.
Lisa Savvas
Q: My dog is epileptic and on Epiphen medication. Is it safe to take this?
A: To date no contraindications have been reported. In fact, in animal models of epilepsy and acute seizures, supplementation with PEA has been shown to reduce severity and frequency of attacks - click here. It's possible therefore that after giving PEA for 12 weeks your vet may be able to reduce the dose of anti-convulsant medication required for maintenance.
Karly

Tubs for the 3 months please

Q: Hi
My almost 10 year old westie Bonnie is 9kg.
This last 3 months she has shown signs of itchy skin and licking a lot. I've had her on PEA for about 6 weeks , 1/2 in the morning 1/2 with dinner. Should I Increase to 1 capsule, twice a day?
Thank you
Kind regards
Karen
A: If the itching hasn't reduced yet, you can try increasing the PEA to one capsule twice daily. If the stools become too soft, reduce the dose back down again. Do let us know how things are going in another 6 weeks. Also take a look at this blog (click on link in blue).

Q: My dog Bella doesn’t suffer from joint issues but she does have itchy skin, keeps shaking her head, biting her paws and scooting. Do you suggest I purchase this PEA product to relieve/cure these issues. My vet has prescribed Apoquel/Cytapoint and steroids in the past which haven’t solved the problem
My cat has Feline Hyperesthesia. The micro PEA is a game changer for her.
