He is currently running out of apoqual I have reduced him to 1 a day and want to stop giving him this. Will it be ok to start him straight away on PEA? Thank you. Lynda.

Q: Would this help my 54kg dogue de bordeaux who possibly has wobblers syndrome. Been to Fitzpatricks referrals. Not had MRI, but has symptoms of wobblers. Has been rested for 3 wks, and has improved. She couldn't shake herself and lame on front right leg with a very painfull neck, does have seasonal allergies, itchy.,on gabapentin at the moment, sometimes rimadyl.
Thanks

A: The best option in these circumstances is Ultimate Joint Support for the reasons explained here. Joints provides the nutritional building blocks for the body to form healthy musculoskeletal tissues, while PEA supports the body's natural anti-inflammatory and pain relieving mechanisms. PEA also helps to maintain normal nerve function and significantly reduces itching in 2 out of 3 dogs reactive to environmental substances. Do let us know how you get on.

Q: Hi. Will this help with my vizsla’s ear problems? ….smelly, brown gunk and shaking her head a lot. She also suffers with seasonal allergies (grass i think) Her ears are always worse if she goes swimming a lot. Thanks.
A: PEA helps skin and ear problems in 2 out of 3 dogs reactive to environmental irritants such as pollen, grass and other substances. It's important that you vet rules out ectoparasites, bacterial, fungal and yeast infections first however (click here to learn more) and if these are present, to provide the appropriate treatment. NOTE: Giving Insect plus Itch Relief helps to ease irritation while waiting for PEA to reach peak effect, which can take up to 12 weeks for some dogs. Do let us know how you get on.

Q: How would I administer this to a 2 year old pony with manic itching? And how much would he need??
A: The capsules can be given inside a piece of apple or any favourite treat. 3 capsules twice daily suits most ponies. Be sure to give PEA for at least 12 weeks before gauging any effect, as it can take this long to reach peak effect in some animals.

Q: My spaniel has chronic hepatitis as a result of a benign tumor on her liver and has been on 7.5mg steroids a day for the last 3 years. At 13 she also now has early CKD.
She's starting to struggle with spinal arthritis, would she be OK on PEA whilst also taking steroids and incurin?
A: Yes, PEA is safe to use alongside any medication prescribed by your vet, and also does not adversely affect kidney function. If you let us know how things are going in 12 week's time, we can advise further if necessary.
