Care for your pet like Vince the Vet

Palmitoylethanolamide (PEA) and CBD oil both exhibit anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties.

PEA however, has a number of advantages over CBD oil:

1.  Naturally produced by the body:

This typically means better biocompatibility and fewer side effects.

2. Safety:

Because PEA is part of a dog or cat's normal physiological make up, side-effects are rare (typically limited to stool softening) compared to CBD oil.

This can be particularly important for pets with sensitivities or those on multiple medications.

3. Absence of Psychoactive Effects.

Unlike CBD, which is derived from cannabis and can contain trace amounts of THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), PEA is free from mind-altering components which could adversely affect perceptions, mood and behaviour.

4. Higher Compatibility With Medications

PEA is far less likely to interact with pharmaceuticals being taken than CBD oil which can interact a wide range of different drugs, and so requires careful monitoring.

5. Wider range of action:

PEA modulates the endocannabinoid system and lowers the activity of inflammatory cells.

It also influences mast cells and has an affinity for nuclear receptors (like PPAR-alpha) providing a multi-faceted approach to reducing inflammation and pain.

Summary OF MAIN PEA Benefits:

1.  Pain Relief

Has been shown to relive pain associated with nerve, joint, musculoskeletal, inflammatory and cancerous conditions.

2. Anti-inflammatory Properties:

Helps to reduce inflammation naturally and without side-effects, which can be beneficial for pets with conditions such as:

  • atopic dermatitis (itching caused by a sensitivity to environmental allergens)
  • joint issues
  • bowel irritation
  • nerve problems
  • similar inflammatory conditions.

3. Neuroprotective Effects:

PEA supports nerve health and continued cognitive function making it beneficial for ageing pets and those with degenerative neurological conditions.

4. Immune System Support:

PEA can modulate the immune responses to help maintain healthy self-repair and self-defence mechanisms.

5. Improved Quality of Life:

By alleviating pain and inflammation, PEA can significantly enhance well-being, helping pets remain active and comfortable for as long as possible.

For these reasons and many others, PEA can be a valuable addition to any pet's natural health care regime.
