Sometimes, following supplementation with PEA and a period of all going well for many months, a sudden increase in stiffness, itching, fit frequency or other signs may occur.
This is often due to triggering factors, such as too much physical activity aggravating sore joints, high pollen counts inflaming sensitive skin, nerves / the Central Nervous System (CNS) becoming more unstable for some reason. At times like these, doubling the daily amount of PEA can be highly beneficial for restoring well-being once more.
And because PEA is 100% natural, and is a normal part of canine / feline physiology (it is produced in the body itself in response to inflammation, pain and stress) it is safe and side-effect free* even when given in increased quantities for extended periods.
*Stool softening may occur in a small number of pets - usually when there is a history of digestive disturbances. This typically resolves when supplementation is paused, and later resumed at a lower dose, once formed faeces are being passed regularly again.
NOTE:
If not already giving Insect plus Itch Relief for an itchy skin, it is best to use this alongside PEA, to further ease skin irritation.
