A Simple, Safe and Effective Way To Help Teeth and Gums Stay Healthy

Poor oral hygiene, quickly results in a build up of plaque and the development of periodontal disease in dogs and cats.

And once pockets of infection begin to develop around teeth, the risk of pathogenic bacteria entering the bloodstream during mealtimes and recreational chewing increases dramatically.

The longer this continues, the greater the risk that the invading microbes will set up colonies on heart valves, and in the kidneys, liver and joints to cause disease in these organs and elsewhere.

Taking steps to maintain your pet's teeth and gums therefore, is not only important for a fresh breath, good digestion and a robust gut microbiome, but also for healthy internal organs.

Top Two Oral Hygiene Measures

  1. Encourage 10-20 minutes chewing daily (under direct supervision) on a natural, air dried chew, such as a turkey foot / cow windpipe (depending on which meat protein suits your dog).
  2. Using the following natural toothpaste (recipe below), which can either be gently brushed along the teeth and gum margins once daily, or smeared on a chew.

A 100% Natural Toothpaste

Mix 1/4 teaspoon of Immunity to 1 teaspoon of pure, organic, cold-pressed, virgin coconut oil (around £5 a jar from major supermarkets).

The organic kelp in Immunity has a cleansing action.

The Echinacea purpurea helps the oral immune system cope successfully with microbes that contribute to the formation of plaque, periodontal disease and other health problems, including:

The coconut oil has natural antiseptic properties.

Unlike many commercial toothpastes which contain chemical additives, this Immunity toothpaste is completely safe when swallowed.

NOTE

A jarful of this toothpaste can be made up in advance (using the proportions above) and kept in the fridge for up to 4 weeks.
