Vince MacNally left Ainsdale behind in 1978 to pursue his childhood dream of becoming a vet at Liverpool University. Returning to Southport 40 years later, now known as ‘Vince the Vet’, Dr Vince BVSc VetMFHom MRCVS is armed with a wealth of experience in both conventional and complementary treatments. This was gained at the PDSA in Manchester, in his own thriving veterinary practice in Stockport, plus his complementary clinic in Hampshire and more recently in Telford.

Whilst now focusing purely on enriching diets and the use of natural remedies to help pets, Vince ‘crosses the bridge’ daily between traditional and alternative approaches to healing. He works alongside conventional vets reducing medication; improving diets; stimulating the immune system with Homeopathy and other natural remedies. All-in-all, Dr Vince offers the complete holistic package, which complements traditional veterinary medicine perfectly.

“I’ve seen cases designated as ‘incurable’ be completely overturned. Donnie for instance, a chocolate Labrador originally came to me for ‘end of life’ care in 2015 in Telford. He had golf ball sized tumours in his lungs, liver, spleen and elsewhere. Given that Donnie was struggling to breathe and going downhill rapidly, I recommended chemotherapy at Liverpool Small Animal Teaching Hospital to give us time to build up Donnie’s immune system and completely purify his body with natural remedies, fresh food and our potent, health promoting supplements Digestion, Vitality and – especially important - Immunity. Despite the prognosis being extremely poor, 7 months later Donnie was cancer free. The vets at Liverpool warned that the lymphoma would almost certainly return within 6 months. Just a few weeks ago however, Donnie still showed no sign of the cancer returning - and less than 5% of dogs with his diagnosis make it this far. There is no doubt in my mind or Donnie’s Mum’s and Dad’s, that the nutritional support provided by our specially formulated supplements and raw food has played a major part in this.”

Vince also vividly recalls the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons referring a very poorly Westie called Yushie to him in Stockport.

His distraught owners had been advised to have him put to sleep because of the severity of his skin problems and lack of response to conventional treatment. Vince continues,

“When he arrived at our clinic, it was easy to see why. Covered almost from head to tail with angry eruptions and smelling of rancid butter, Yushie scratched almost constantly, with little respite. We gradually overhauled his diet, replacing tinned and dried dog food with fresh meat, various natural supplements and homeopathic remedies. Within 6 months Yushie was off all drugs and had regrown a thick coat of white hair. He went on to live a very healthy, happy and fulfilling life for another 10 years.”

Vince can recollect countless such transformations, both from the past and the present day. Only yesterday for example, Tara called to say how well Merlin (an extremely handsome Havana cat with kidney failure) was doing on his holistic renal support programme. This was followed by a conversation with Diane about Ruby on how to adjust her raw food diet and supplements in the weeks ahead. (Ruby is a very pretty Cavalier King Charles Spaniel with Addison’s disease who nearly died before seeing Vince for a consultation last year.)

With his vast array of clinical experience together with an insatiable thirst for answers, spanning healing modalities studied here in the UK, the USA, Thailand and China, Vince knows just how important enhanced nutrition is in promoting the very best of health. He’s returned to Southport, his roots, to open the first Vince the Vet Superfood Centre where a warm welcome awaits, along with holistic consultations to complement your vet’s conventional veterinary treatment.

The shop area is open Tuesday to Saturday from 11.00 to 17.00 and provides the opportunity to purchase Dr Vince’s unique range of clinically proven, 100% natural supplements, raw food and worm kits. (Mention ‘Champnews’ for 20% off Vince the Vet Superfood Supplements until the 31st July 2018).

There is also of course, the chance to meet the man himself, for FREE general holistic advice.

I can guarantee there’s never a dull moment with Vince the Vet around, especially when he’s discussing poo!!! The latest conversation on this topic following the results of a Vince the Vet Worm Count test, which revealed the presence of hookworm in a dog. I won’t divulge what Dr Vince has to say on this, as he’d much rather tell you in person instead!
